Okogie needs creators to help him get easy shots. Starting with Sengun, Amen, and Reed seems like a natural fit as he can use energy chasing perimeter threats to ease things for Reed and Durant.

Granted, the Rockets have played well with JSJ and Durant together even with their overlapping skills.

If we didn't have Bari and Tari, Okogie would be a good fit assuming Durant is starting no matter what. We still need some size for interior defense.

Right now, the wing minutes distribution is just right with Durant there. I'm wondering what we are going to do when both Tari and DFS come back.

Right now I count six guys needing minutes at the 2 through 4 spots, assuming you count one of Reed/Holiday as a point guard and the other as a shooting guard, for 144 minutes per game, so...

You get 24 minutes per game! And you get 24 minutes per game! And you all get 24 minutes per game!

Obviously KD and probably Reed at this point will get more run than that, and I'd say likely Holiday and Okogie less. But overall I feel like it's a good problem to have, and I'd love to be able to get KD in particular right around or even under 30 minutes per game to keep him healthy for the playoffs.

I still say keep Reed as a reserve til Tari returns. We need scoring off the bench.

Also, the team is now 11-1 with Okogie as a starter.

I am stunned people want Okogie as a starter. I love what he’s done as a glue guy, but you don’t bench a guy like Sheppard ever again.

Sheppard / Amen / KD / Bari / Sengun for the next three years if all are healthy.

This. Thats a ridiculously balanced lineup with high BBIQ, shooting, defense, passing, rebounding, etc.

I want to see that lineup destroy the j*zz these next two games.

He may not start, but he has to finish.....

He is clearly our best option, but as long as he is getting starters minutes, off the bench is fine.

Finally a STAR as a lottery pick for us.

Someone good is not going to play, but that's how depth works. If you only have exactly as many as you need, then one or two injuries can knock you out badly.

Team needs to start Reed now and trade for his backup. Amen should start as a dunker spot/utility then when Reed has to rest he can focus on going downhill after that against 2nd units and tired starters.

It is what it is but team needs to revolve around Reed/Sengun two man game. KD just isnt a secure ball handler at this stage of his career and using him as an ancillary scorer is in the teams best interests. It'll preserve him and he'll still average 25.

I said a while back Reed can take Jabaris starting spot. When KD comes back send Jabari to the bench.

Dumb. Jabari and Reed serve different roles and one starting has nothing to do with the other.

One game ago, Reed played poorly. Amen played great. This game Reed played great and Amen played poorly on the offensive side. Reed should be getting 30 mins a game. I think his defense has progressed enough to start, but that instant offense change of pace is important right now, especially when Durant gets back. Ginobli spent his whole career coming off the bench and is a hall of famer. No use changing when the Rockets are 10-1 when Okogie starts.

Of course, it might not be about who is starting between Okogie and Reed, and more about the 2 bigs and poor zone Ime is running out there too much. I will be incensed if he ever starts the two bigs again. I admit that Reed has progressed way faster than I anticipated and could be effective as a starter in replace of Okogie. We need to see how it works with Durant in the lineup. Okogie, so far, has played much better as a starter than as a bench player. Reed has been great off the bench. I see no reason to be in a hurry to minimize Okogie’s effectiveness when Reed is contributing to winning in his current role.

Benching Jabari is stupid. Jabari is key to our rebounding game and defense. The negativity on this board for Jabari is insane.

The reason Reed needs to remain as a starter is that he makes the players around him better like any good PG does.

It's important to remember, this isn't even their final form. They are still working out how to play together.

I said after the first few games that the team would look a lot better after 20 games and that's looking like it'll be the case. I think they'll also look a lot better after Reed starts 20 games.

What do you think Fred's role is next season? Starter? Trade bait? Reed's backup?

I don't think FVV will have any trade value, but he could be a solid really overpaid bench PG.

If the Rockets are serious about making a championship push they need to convince Fred to accept a trade. Thats a ton of salary doing nothing to help the team and it could be used to add a really nice rotation piece.

Depends on his recovery. Not sure if he will ever start here again unless there's an injury but he's a fighter and his career is far from over.

Next year will be the last year on his contract and he will be an attractive salary filler in the trade market.

He won't have that NTC once he picks up his option .... They won't need his consent after that.

Where would you upgrade if you could?
