When will Reed be placed into the starting lineup?

Play him like EGO

 

I still think we need him off the bench with heavy minutes.
We’re winning and I’m not sure he gets the touches he needs with the starting unit.
Let’s see how it plays out by all star break

I still think his defensive fundamentals are lacking and he gambles too much. His minutes will keep increasing and he will continue to improve, but I think "starter" is less important than how many minutes he plays.

 

I picked the next game.

 

The defense also suffered when he started the 2nd half, they hit their first 6 or 7 shots.

 

They got help in the first couple minutes with Durant and Thompson turning over the ball too. Doesn't help when our guys kept missing shots either.

 

Still think Reed needs to start and Holiday needs to get regular rotation minutes.

Holiday's value shooting and making shots is just too valuable to ignore. I think those oddly worried about bench scoring should be fine with Holiday, Tari and eventually DFS providing some scoring/shooting off the bench.

I'd like to see Reed with the starters because he's the only player on the team that is going to provide some serious ball handling relief for that group and allow guys to play more into their natural roles and be more effective.

Also, this may sound strange since we have KD...but with the current starting units that we've deployed with Adams or Okogie, Jabari is the only floor spacer. And I know people will think, "what about KD?"....But he'll tell you himself that he likes to operate more out of the midrange. He's rarely spotting up in the corners or really anywhere above the three point line and on the occasions where he does catch it out top he's looking to get to a mid range pull up most of the time.

I really think Reed as a starter has been the best fit since before the season started...But I understand why Ime has gone the direction he has.

 

Well I was wrong. I can’t see how we take him out. He’s clearly surpassed Okogie

 

Okogie was there for point of attack defense. That was our main issue when starting the double big lineup. The starting lineup was already an elite offense. Reed was always the more talented player just not what they needed at the time for that group.

My guess is Ime will revert back to the old starting lineup when everyone is healthy. But, then continue to play Reed with the starters in stretches throughout the game and likely to finish games. They will likely want to collect data on how to cover Reed/Sengun/KD defensively.

Ultimately, Reed will start for good at some point this season. They just need to figure out the defense for that unit.

Amen and Reed play well together. Got to play them as much as possible.

Okogie can provide defense off the bench. Holiday can shoot. Davison can do a little of everything. I am coming around to feel okay with our back court depth. Hope they convert Davison after the ASB.
