I know I should call them, and I will later.. but first wanted to ask the people on this board..

Does anyone know if Southwest is good about letting you change flight dates? I booked a flight for next friday, but wanted to go to a football game on Saturday.. but it wouldn't end in time to get a good flight out that night..

The time of the football game changed though so would like to change from Friday to Saturday...

Anyone know how to do this without getting charged a big fee.. in other words do you normally have to be pretty aggressive to get them to let you change days?

did you pay the flexible rate? cause i know my tickets to houston to dallas, i pay like a $109 each way, but I can change days no problem with no charge.

southwest is pretty cool about it

It all depends on your fare. Southwest does not charge a change fee that all other airlines do on nonrefundable fares, so really, all you'll have to pay is any applicable fare difference. You're adding a Saturday night stay, it sounds like, so you may get lucky. Its better to do it as soon as possible because of the varying advance purchase rules they may have. I hope that answers your question.

huypham, you are paying a full fare it sounds like. They are changeable and refundable and only make sense on a budget carrier like Southwest (unless, of course, it is your company picking up the tab ;) )

    800-531-5600 - call them now

It depends on how soon you're trying to change, and what kind of fare you purchased. Sooner is always better than later.

I just called Southwest and they said they charge a fee depending on if it's a 7 or 14 day advance. Call 1-800-I-FLY-SWA.

    Thanks guys.

I'll give them a call. I would have earlier, but I didn't have the time or all my confirmation info etc on me.. so I thought I'd just post a message here to see if anyone knew. before I wasted too much time calling.

Sounds like I may have a chance to change it though so I'll see..

And don't ask me why on earth I'd want to hang around an extra day in Nashville for a Vandy vs Univ of Tennessee game.. because even I don't know the answer to that.

Either way I'll still get to spend a week in Houston so it's all good

I've gotten dates changed for later on Fun Fares (cheapest tickets) without paying a fee. It just depends on what kind of day the counter employee is having. Oh yeah I didn't do it by phone.
