The Orioles are a PRIVATELY owned team. The owner can hire anyone he wants.

I am soooo sick and tired of the Government sticking their noses into our lives. When is it going to stop? I mean it truly is getting out of hand.

Take care of our national defense, and build my roads. But get out of my business, bedroom and life damit.

Actually, it looks like a legitimate complaint to me. If this is true, they are discriminating against certain players on the basis of their national origin -- which is clearly a civil rights violation. I think the US policy toward Cuban refugees is stupid, but given that policy, no employer (whether private or public) can discriminate like this. That said, they'll never prove it; the signing process in professional sports is so fickle that they could plausibly argue that every Cuban they ever had a chance to sign were undesireable for a host of reasons, and no one could prove otherwise.

    Juan,

I have no problem with the complaint if it comes from the individual that was discriminated against. Let them duke it out in court alll they want. What I do have a problem with is some senator (who has no business doing so) sticking his mouth and nose into the situation.

"they are discriminating against certain players on the basis of their national origin"

I guess we'll have to start having quotas on ballplayers now huh? [IMG]
