Some random fanboy homer thoughts this morning - if this is the current team at its worst it gives me hope that a few tweaks are all that is needed. Its been an exhausting frustrating season but start with getting a legit manager and clean the clubhouse of its current vibes and make sone moves and they’re still solid. Clean house on the staff. Drop anyone not currently vibing and figure it out.

Astros 30-40 in their last 70.

That's a long time to be one of the absolute worst teams in baseball.

That's the momentum, or lack thereof, we have going into the off season.

This team isn't getting any better. I said at the beginning of the year that this isn't a playoff team and 78-82 wins is expected. They overachieved and still are only a few wins above that. Next year I'll be surprised if they hit .500. The vets on this team are dwindling their careers down and surprisingly don't seem to have what it takes to motivate others, while our young guys don't look like the next star material but fillers. A decent manager could get this team kickstarted to win games, but Espada is who he is and will most likely stay through the lean years to come.

Trade Yordan for what we can get, let Altuve retire an Astro and Correa play out his contract without being vested. Let Pena walk when it's time and send Brown to another team where he can do something while we get back a crop that may turn into something. 2-3 years at the bottom again isn't so bad, and much less painful than 5-7 years in the middle.

The Coogs are stacked. The championship game last year is too painful for me to even think about. We waited 42 years to see the Coogs get back there as they wandered aimlessly through the desert only to see them miss 43 layups and lose a game they should’ve easily won.

That being said, holy cow we are stacked this year.

Interesting scenario that I think will actually play out.

Either Astros lose or Tigers win today. Tigers clinch a playoff spot.

Tigers will not pitch Skubal tomorrow and cede the division to Cleveland.

They want Skubal to pitch game 1, even if that means they are traveling to Cleveland.

9 outs away from the reverse magic number being 1.

Love how Pena's one or two day injury has turned into the rest of the year injury.

Another wuss in a long line of wusses on this team.

Can we hurry up and IL him so we break the MLB record by 2? Might as well.

All up to the Indians winning and the Astros game is meaningless. Joe Espada will not be winning manager of the year. I think he gets fired Monday.

If he's not then there is no hope whatsoever for the Dana Brown era.

I’m thinking they might give him a pass because of the injuries, but they need to move on.

The most Astros thing to do would be to win big today and tomorrow after the Indians win their game.

The duality of man, back to back.

How is that I agree with both.

No, that might be the most frustrating, but the most Astros thing would be (seemingly) opening up a bigger can if quit. Maybe a couple of innings where they collectively see only 3-5 pitches.

The Reds and Mets both have a magic number of 2 at the exact same time. Flip a coin.
