    Pretty weak of her to go against her own convictions, cave to pressure from Trump, vote to confirm Hegseth, and still give up her seat.

    She's leaving because she killed her own career with the "we're all going to die" and video followup gaffes. The recent Iowa state Senate seat won by the Democrats was also writing on the wall.

    I actually saw a thumbnail on some too-far-left-even-for-me (and there are a few) Youtube channel of a video showing JD Vance with Joni Ernst as VP.

    Stranger things have happened, but "we're all going to die / I didn't have to explain the Tooth Fairy / my Lord and savior Jesus Christ" schtick should have been a career killer. Then again, Trump mocked a disabled reporter on stage and was catapulted to the White House. But Ernst didn't have the snake charm nor the TV show to imprint herself on the Borg collective.
