    It is so hard to say "best" or not, because you are really comparing the 2026 Astros to the other teams in the league in 2026. It would take a couple breaks for the Astros - good health, getting a trade netting a #1-2 starter, and most of the roster playing at or near expectations..... but if the Astros were to lead the league in wins and win the WS, then they could make an argument for being the best Astros team. They would be very deep in theory, with a very long line up and exceptional defense in the infield and most of the field.

    I know a lot of Astros fans roll their eyes at the importance of getting another first round pick - but it is a big deal for the long term strength of this organization.

    i mean who is to say whether he has “discomfort”. Is Rooney the kind of guy who will rat out the Astros and say it was fabricated? Even so, the Astros sure better have medical records reflecting a consultation for Rooney saying he has discomfort.

    And getting Cam for his age 28 season just by sending him down to AAA for 1/2 a month, after being the worst hitter in MLB would very likely be huge as well.

    Parades injury was a big loss. He was the only one to work counts every game and I think the rest of the lineup took their cue from him. Every offensive stat dropped dramatically after he got hurt.
