Has there been any clarity yet on the details of the contract? That 4th year was a little concerning waiting to see if the details have been released..

we are only getting estimates at this point but from what I am hearing, the first year is at 12.3M with the fourth year going to be a player option

Still no number per season, but 2 non-guaranteed years (one with a player option) at the end is nice.

When Dorian Finney Smith signed with the Rockets, Cam Whitmore wanted out even more.

This is great news! More flexibility to tweak the roster sooner.

I have little doubt DFS will be solid as a rock for at least 2 years.

2 years guaranteed means he’s signed between ages 32 & 33 at roughly 12.5 mill per

He opted out of a 1/15 mill deal for a 2/25 which is a bit surprising for him coming off a great season. Tough market.

Yep. I think I would have preferred NAW, but this is a good value deal.

I freaked out about the 4 years a little bit, but only two years guaranteed sounds much better. DFS just turned 32 so any longer than that would have been ill advised.

This is a great deal for the Rockets. They replaced Dillon for 7 mil less and only guaranteed the same number of years he had remaining on his contract.

They also got a player who's nearly as good (and better in some ways) who accepts a bench role to make way for Jabari and Tari to hopefully step up.

Now hopefully at the end of his contract Ausar is getting out of his deal and we can sign him to replace him.

The Thompson Twins need to win a Championship together.

it ‘sounded’ like CW’s fate was sealed at the exit interview.

I'm honestly very surprised that the Laker's did not offer him a similar deal. This deal is essentially a steal unless there is a serious injury concern that we don't know about. Rockets are secretly accumulating salaries of non-essential/core players to trade for the next star. I think next year Bari + Reed + Smith + Capela could match salaries with the next star that becomes available.

Not sure on specifics, but heard there was bad blood over how the Lakers handled the negotiations. Even if the Lakers offered a similar deal, it was unlikely for him to return after how the negotiations started.

The general manager of the Lakers - was telling other general managers that DFS was not the same player because of a knee injury, all in an effort to soften his market so the Lakers could keep him. He wasn't going back to the Lakers.

I wouldn't be surprised if Stone was the one that leaked it to DFS and his agent.
