    OK, and then you've spent your last 3 bullpen arms in one inning, and all you've got left after Springer is pitching Oswalt in relief on 2 days rest and/or Clemens on 3 days. He couldn't even throw Backe out there on one day rest if he wanted to (used as a PH). Having your starter go 2 innings in a game that reaches extra innings is going to spread your bullpen thin no matter what.

    Clemens on full rest should get you 7 innings. Use Oswalt for 2 innings if need be. Backe would be on normal rest for game 1 of the World Series (he pitched Monday).
