    Man, that is crazy.

Dell must be trying to get their revenue up. We ordered some servers this month, and our sales rep cut us a helluva deal, contingent upon the order going through by the end of the month.

Live by the numbers, die by the numbers.

Oh well... I guess this just made my decision about whether to get a powerbook or a PC laptop much easier. :D

Is the Inspiron 9100 the same as the Inspiron XPS?

I can't find the 9100 and I want to buy that one!

I saw that yesterday night and tody on slickdeals and bensbargains.

I'm not sure if I'm going to get one or not, but damn I want one at that price. But my recent experiences with Dell laptops have been less than stellar. I with this were for IBM laptops . . .

The 9100 is apparently no longer offered. They may have run out of them. :( I'm not sure if I should wait or not... they may run out of the others, too. :D

    I like the XPS too!

I just wish they had laptops with 17" widescreens and TV tuners.

i was all set to get the toshiba quosimo (sp?), but i'll be damned if this discount is making me rethink my strategy.

If you want laptops with 17" screens and tuners go to www.pctorque.com and www.powernotebooks.com. They use similar ODM's to Dell and others.

The XPS is a newer version of the 9100, but those things are boat anchors. Not counting the carrying case and anything else in it, the laptop alone ways around 9-9.5 pounds. They're desktop replacements.

I think I'm going to go for an 8600.

The 9100 weights 8.92lb, too heavy.

I prefer 600M but I must resist the temptation. I already have two laptops. :(

Just found out the 9100 is supposedly going to be replaced by a 9200 in November. The 9200 apparently will have a 17" screen.

I like the 700m, but the integrated/shared graphics card is not to my liking. It's the best looking of the bunch to me... not that that really matters too much.
