If Diggs $27M comes off the books, couldn't we sign Higgins? Not sure how that works cap wise, but that would seem to be a better use of that money.

At the end of the day IIRC, we're going to lose ~$16.7M in cap space if Diggs is not re-signed (minimum)

He put $$$ into void years... if he re-signs, it goes into his contract. If he leaves, it counts against the team THAT year

 

I've been really trying to understand the NFL cap and putting a ton of time (not too much though) into it and it is just too complicated.

If you can, please explain. I seen his dead money would be $17M+ if we do not sign him. HYPOTHETICALLY, if we sign him for $10M, does that mean we would have $7M in dead money?

I think if you re-sign a player with void years... that money could become part of their new contract. (Schultz did it before)

I think the plan was for Diggs to do the same BEFORE the injury happened (i.e. go see what you can get in the market & we will see if we can come close to that)
