I’m really curious if anyone here supports such bans, and if so why.

Florida bans lab-grown meat, adding to similar efforts in three other states
Companies that have made strides in cultivated meat technology said Florida’s law stifles innovation in a space that is becoming competitive globally

“Florida is fighting back against the global elite’s plan to force the world to eat meat grown in a petri dish or bugs to achieve their authoritarian goals,” DeSantis said. “We will save our beef.”

lol DeSantis is so full of horseshit...

I've consistently stated that DeSantis and Newsome are two sides of the same coin. Apparently several other states are just as crazy. It is constitutional though, via the FDR era and the limiting (not banning) of Milknot. I think the criminal ban could be argued as a due process violation, though modern conservative judges are loathe to go that route. At the same time, economic liberty is making a comeback.

The DeSantis quote from the article seems a bit like a bunch of BS to me.

“Florida is fighting back against the global elite’s plan to force the world to eat meat grown in a petri dish or bugs to achieve their authoritarian goals,” DeSantis said. “We will save our beef.”

Nobody can force anyone to eat what they don't want to eat. If people choose the alternative let them have the choice. Who cares? Just like it's not against the law for lazy people to buy grease filled fast food, or eat processed crap, or feed it to their obese kids. I don't eat bugs, but I'm sure they are healthier than a bag of Cheetos and a Big Mac.

Ask @AroundTheWorld but we know on this the cattle industry lobbied hard for it. I just hate the way DeSantis makes like he's doing a favor for the people of his state when it's just the opposite. Don't piss on my head and tell me it's raining...

lab grown meat. no thanks. I'd rather go vegetarian or vegan even. but acting like the liberals are coming for your steaks is as asinine as saying they're coming for your guns.

No joke. They act like the proposals backed by the majority of Americans, such as a ban on guns like an AR-15, getting rid of loophole laws, or stricter background checks, means the same thing as take away all guns from all civilians. Hysteria propaganda, hysteria propaganda, hysteria propaganda, fed to you fools by those GOP politicians you trust and believe in.

I favor clear labeling and would definitely eat it. I get it's weird, but could be a big part of maintaining human life after we've destroyed our planet.

Lab grown meat doesn't actually exist at scale, but great ban.

Books, being gay, vaccines, bodily autonomy for women, black people voting, libraries, artificial meat - is there anything other than guns and white people failing upwards and crypto scams that Ron Freedom DeSantis doesn't want to ban?

Or is Pudding Fingers Ron banning things just...."Inevitable "
