I think the goal right now is to hope the division sucks and get by with a few less than 90 wins and still win the division.
Seems like that's our only hope right now. But you know arlington will eventually pick it up and it looks like Seattle might be in the mix as well.
Slumps happen. I expect Bregman will be back to normal at some point and it could be tonight. His EVs are fine and his launch angles have been getting close to the sweet spot. Astros are only 5.5. games back. They can't change what has happened, but if the Astros figure out the pitching/get healthier, the Astros can make up 5.5 games with this much season left. Just gotta get to the point that Verlander, Framber, and Javier are healthy and the back end of the bullpen gets their heads out of their arses.
That's only a 97 win pace. Not insignificant, but hardly impossible or unprecedented. And considering the Mariners lead the division and are on a pace to win 84, it's very possible to still win this division. However, it must be understood that it's very likely that hoping for a WC spot out of this division is a fantasy so it's the division or bust. It's not too late (yet) but this team must start playing good baseball now. Or very very very soon.
The 2016 team started out 7-17 too and they ended up winning 84 games. 84 wins might get you the division this year. Just trying to stay positive....
The 1973 New York Mets hold the distinction of having the worst record at the All-Star break of any team that ended up going to the World Series. They had a record of 42-51 at the break, finishing the regular season at 82-79, which is also the lowest winning percentage for a World Series team in a full season. Despite their struggles, they managed to win the NL East and made a surprising run to the World Series, ultimately falling to the Oakland Athletics in seven games .
fantasy/fiction has been THE genre / correlation of hometown sports & illusion of choice for Houstonians over the last 20 years
I honestly can’t even come to this forum. The stros are so depressing right now. Top to bottom. Fire Espada, he might not be the whole problem but he’s doing a **** job of fixing it. DFA Abreu he should be embarrassed for himself. This team has done great things but it’s getting out of hand. What the **** is going on? I’m out til we show some semblance of caring. Pitching gives up huge innings to start and end games. Offense gets discouraged and doesn’t do anything to catch us up or keep a lead. It’s downright embarrassing. thank go for the Texans.
