But the only reason people are posting about it is because of whose child she is. And that is my point.
People are also up in arms about Golden gate bridge blocking and and about a Muslim pro Palestinian valeditorian being cancelled.. It's not just a politician's daughter that's the news here. 108 people are arrested for protesting on a campus in NYC. Personally, I don't care in the least about Ilhan Omar (just as an example).
I haven't read much about the protest, so I don't have a strong opinion on it. In general, I don't think blocking access or interrupting traffic, disrupting general education, etc., is a good idea and is ineffective. It is more likely to alienate than to help. Of course, the legitimacy of the cause for the protest plays a huge role as well. With that said... I do not support suspending and arresting peaceful protesters. There should be room for peaceful protest. It becomes unacceptable when it turns violent. For this protest, all students suffer from the on-campus protest that blocks access, not just Jewish students. The protesters seem to be demanding that the university divest from any investment related to the Gaza war. To date, it appears to be a non-violent protest directed at the university with specific demands. Perhaps by coincidence, Columbia also has a strong historical importance in these types of protests. The historic 1968 protest had similar demands (demanding the university cut ties to institutions supporting the Vietnam War). Columbia University protests: Students at more universities plan solidarity rallies after pro-Palestinian activists arrested | CNN The encampment was organized by Columbia University Apartheid Divest (CUAD) – a student-led coalition of more than 100 organizations – Students for Justice in Palestine, and Jewish Voice for Peace, to protest what they describe as the university’s “continued financial investment in corporations that profit from Israeli apartheid, genocide, and military occupation of Palestine,” according to CUAD’s news release. “The Gaza Solidarity Encampment was established to pressure Columbia to divest all funds, including the endowment, from corporations that profit from Israeli apartheid, genocide and military occupation in Palestine,” the release said. Columbia University 1968 (columbia1968.com) On April 23, 1968, Columbia University students began a nonviolent occupation of campus buildings that lasted nearly a week. Students and community supporters called for the university to cut its ties to research for the war in Vietnam and to end construction of a gym in Morningside Park. After negotiations failed, the administration sent in the police, injuring many and arresting over 700, triggering a campus-wide strike that shut down the university.

Yes and Paul Pelosi was engaged in a gay tryst with the man who attacked him in his home. Michelle Obama is a transgender. Hillary was part of a child molestation ting in the basement of a pizzeria which had no basement. Windmills cause cancer.
The article and facts about Omar weren't retracted. I also included the Business Insider link. I can include more sources still if you would like.
