    2022 Phillies
    22-29 Joe Girardi
    65-46 Rob Thomson
Lost in the World Series to yours truly

    2022 Blue Jays
    46-42 Charlie Montoyo
    46-28 John Schneider
    Lost Wild Card Round

    2018 Cardinals
    47-46 Mike Matheny
    41-28 Mike Shildt

Not necessarily immediate success or turn around but stuck around a good while after

    2011 A’s
    27-36 Bob Geren
    47-52 Bob Melvin
    Stayed another decade

    2015 Brewers
    7-18 Ron Roenicke
    61-76 Craig Counsell
    Stayed another 8 years

    2016 Braves
    9-28 Fredi Gonzalez
    59-65 Brian Snitker
    Still their manager today

    I had a thought.

Espada has never been a manager before, outside of exhibition teams and maybe winter ball?

He learned from Aaron Boone, A.J. Hinch, and most recently Dusty Baker.

He knows Baker is highly respected, especially by Jim Crane and his advisors.

He needs to learn the best lineups and moves to win games now, over 162 games, and the post season.

He knows he needs to keep some of the things he learned from Dusty and jettison others. But which is which?

But the first 25 games in this position its reasonable that he is still figuring it out.

But in the MLB the learning needs to come quick.

It was never smart to hand a rookie manager the keys to a finely tuned machine. I think the FO should dictate the lineups and they should give Espada a pitch com headset and tell him what pitching matchups to play. Why the hell not ??? If he can’t coach in the majors then they need to turn him into a puppet until he gets the hang of it

If their going to turn Espada into an automaton, then the water boy can do the job.

Shuffle the ****ing lineup, move Bregman out of cleanup, get tossed from a game, pound a table during a press conference and say they’re just not doing what they’re supposed to do.

You are the head honcho, the manager; no longer the bench coach and players’ friends

“They all have different ways of approaching their game individually, but then how (do) we bring all that together as one, as a unit?” Espada said. “So I like to sit down with them individually. And I want to hear from them also —what they see, what things we might need to change to get everyone to execute better.

“This is a family. This team has been together for a very long time. We all know how to turn things around. So, really good conversations the last couple days.”

I am sure those players were rolling their eyes the entire time. If I was a veteran player I would tell him to go **** himself.

On Sunday, I said Espada should catch a flight to Cancun after Mexico series. I changed my mind if the players continue to be lifeless on the field next 2 days. Espada should catch a flight back to Houston after the Cubs series while rest of the team head to Mexico City.

This! Everyone except Abreu is batting better than Bregman. He has no business being cleanup hitter.

I don't know the updated stats, but heading into this road trip the Astros were either at the top or among the league leaders in hits, average, and runners LOB, but average or below league average in runs scored. That means YOUR BATTING ORDER IS WRONG!!

How many runs have we left on the board strictly as a result of Espada failing to use his brain and make some adjustments. I always believe that a baseball manager doesn't necessarily win you games, but he can definitely lose you games. Espada has lost us games with his batting order and poor bullpen management. Players get blame too for terrible performance, especially Hader and Pressly, but Espada has made it worse.
