And their bullpen pitchers either didn’t properly prepare for the season… or are showing their age/wear/tear. Pressly has been awful this year. There’s no context or contingency that bails him out (unless he’s hurt…).
1) ANY error is not the manager's fault short of blaming him for having that player in the game - which I mentioned. 2) the send was decided by Pettis not Espada.
Either Hader is the closer or he is not. Pressly is out of that role. He is the 8th inning guy. Was Seth not available?
It’s careless errors/plays routinely that cause us to lose If you think this team is well prepared to play, I overestimated your baseball knowledge
I don't think our lineup works. I'd like to see Bregman move back. How about this? With Altuve or Alvarez at 3 and 4 Pena Tucker Alvarez Altuve Diaz Bregman
Heads in their asses currently - Washed up - (Please feel free to fill in the blanks… we know some of the obvious ones… which one is Pressly?)
Fire Espada to send a message, but also because he genuinely isn't a good manager. And send Bagwell packing too while we're at it.
The window may have finally closed on the Astros. They have the talent to contend, but they just have too many issues and just general stupidity to overcome. Espada. He is just bad and is in over his head. Well-run organizations do not hire rookie managers if the team is expected to contend. I don't miss Dusty, but Dusty would not have made some of the mistakes that Espada is making. Poor 1st base play with Abreu and to a lesser extent Singleton. Both at the plate and defensively. Abreu is probably hurt and cooked. Crappy back of the bullpen with Pressly and Hader. Poor play by Bregman. As usual, he's one of those types of players where the stars have to be aligned perfectly in order for him to be productive at the plate. If something's just a tiny bit off, the result is a bunch of ground-outs (many into double plays) and pop-ups. Yainer Diaz iffy at throwing out base stealers. Abysmal baserunning. Whoever's decision it was to send Altuve in the 10th inning is an idiot. Apparently the Astros didn't read the scouting reports on the Nationals OF arm strength. The only consistent bright spots on this team so far are Altuve's hitting, Pena, Ronel Blanco and Cristian Javier. That's not nearly enough bright spots.
To prove he’s past his prime? The old guys got old in a hurry. Or they should take the first month of the season off like JV did?
So which reliever do you want to put in his place who will be better at overcoming our daily defensive lapses late in games?
Is there anything that makes you think he will get in a groove? His spin rate is down, K rate is down, whip trending up last couple of years. Sure, he’s probably not as bad as he is currently… but I also don’t believe this is just bad luck.
