Yeah, but pitchers like Verlander requested Maldy during their starts for a reason and it certainly wasn’t his bat so I’d say it’s a fair question

Maybe Click could've healed Gravemen's injury too. He traded for him once before, and supposedly, he was considering signing Abreu same offseason of his dismissal.

Does Houston sign Hader if Graveman was healthy? Will Hader remain a top notch closer during his Astros tenure?

Time will tell if the money was "dumped". I already explained the current state of the Astros in the portion you deleted. Read it, respond to it, or f*ck off.

There's a couple posters here who love to delete ****, then respond disingenuously.

Verlander's best season happened with Chirinos, not Maldy

    Yes, they requested him

But the ones that used both did better with Diaz

In any case, let's not turn another thread into Maldy, dude isn't even an Astro anymore

I have been an Espada supporters.

But I am really starting to question his bullpen usage. (and Meyers?)

The Astros have had very, very few close leads in the 8th/9th inning this season.

Maybe he shouldn't have pitched yesterday, but I'm not sure how many times this season he could have been used based on peoples expectations of what his usage should be.

There's been maybe 4 or 5 spots that would warrant running him out there.

    I agree

But to be fair, he has had to cover for more innings than any other manager

The Dodgers have more "relief" innings, but have played an extra game and 15 of their "relief" innings are actually Yarbrough following an opener

We are averaging 4.8 innings per start which includes a no hitter

I wasn't in favor of hiring Dusty's right hand man for the job, and obviously I haven't become more in love with it so far

But he has been dealt a bad hand also. SP injuries/performance have put him in a bad spot and Brown has given him a very thin pen. Not to mention the 1B and bench situation

Are you just hell-bent on picking a fight here? The Astros have spent $188MM on three players. It is not disingenuous to wonder what a good, competent GM - like Click - might have done with an owner willing to spend that kind of money.

I can't imagine why the mostly innocuous idea that this team was in better hands with Click has set you off?

Maybe? Who knows who's making the decisions - but Crane has never given himself the GM title so.... there's that, I guess?

Click would have used it all on an extension for Jake Meyers…

Haha! Click would’ve absolutely gone after a bunch of Who???s that, a year later, are indispensable.

    Not totally untrue.

But more likely, 75% of them would become very good Astros but the fan base complains constantly about(and only mentions) the other 25%

Dramatic much? Houston is a tame sports town. It’s not NY. Who, outside of Maldy and Abreu, did fans rip last year? In fact, we ripped the dumb coach for going with those 2 over lesser names on the roster.

is this another cryptic “I love Dusty” post from you?

I think you have me confused with someone else.

I popped a toast and was as happy as anyone when Dusty "retired"

But my post was a commentary on many fans who only post the negative.

I never understood the Pressly haters... I admit my disillusionment with everything Bagwell including his playing days borders on the irrational
