When you trade all your picks and lose in the first round, fire the coach. Suns Considering Firing Frank Vogel After Playoffs Darvin Ham On Hot Seat If Lakers Lose In Five Games Bickerstaff may lose his job in Cleveland
I don't think a flawed roster means you shouldn't fire a coach. If Vogel wasn't connecting with the players (as alleged), he needs to go. But clearly the micromanaging owner is a big part of the problem, particularly for forcing the terrible trade for Brad Beal. He needs to back off and give his puppet James Jones a chance to earn his pay. My guess is they are delaying in order to offer Ham some dignity because firing him quickly may be considered disrespectful.
Darvin made a nice run to the 7th seed......he might not be the best but he is not a bad coach. Still cannot believe Vogel won a bubble championship....lol.
Darvin has been a decent coach for that roster. The reality is that the team is limited. You have players like Russell that don't show up in the playoffs, or Anthony Davis that is always injured, or LeBron James that's just getting old now. Anthony Davis should be carrying this team at this point, but he really seems content on his Robin role.
What is the proper way to fire a coach? Vogel found out he was fired at the press conference after being eliminated from the playoffs. That definitely ain't it. This ain't it either. Ham knows he's fired. Nothing wrong with firing him the day after. That's normal. Leaving his head on the chopping block for a week ain't it. Ham did as well as anyone else considering the roster, but he's a bit off interpersonally and is better suited as an assistant. Prolly. I mean, nobody likes a blamer. BTW, the next coach, will experience the same disrespect from this group of players. Even if it's Ty Lue.
“Lead assistant coach David Fizdale is expected to transition to a new front office role for the Suns, sources said.”
Interesting that they kept Fiz at FO. Since Suns released the assistant coaches, means Kevin Young is available to join another team's bench.
