Yeah, we're at the point that if Singleton truly has no upside, what's the point? He is who he is. He can maybe run into one (maybe?) or maybe draw a walk here/there... but doesn't provide anything else of value except that he's used to riding the bench and coming in for a PH later in games (even though he doesn't do much with those opportunities). Abreu may be washed. May have a flash here/there. May just be injured (or waiting for the PED shot) and have another month long resurgence like he did last year... despite all that, still has more value. Yuli just got signed by the Braves. He'll probably do "something" of note sooner than either of these two guys puts together a stretch.... but he's not the answer either. Espada answering more and more questions about Joey everyday.
Those numbers aren't even decent at 1B. But with the current roster, Singleton should be starting over Abreu for a couple weeks, especially against RHP. The only positive in today's lineup regarding 1B is Abreu batting at the bottom. Espada is at least unafraid to move guys into more proper places, although Chas at 5th is more about last year's production. Don't recall him ever hitting that high. Maybe his surge is incoming.
Just needs to be physically ok. AA is a legit league in terms of hitters that have potential. How much is he really delving into scouting reports? How much is he expermenting/tinkering with off-speed pitches that he may not use as frequently? How are his mechanics? JV isn't an all star or CYA contender anymore. But people sleep on his season last year... he was very good and held up physically after his first month off. And it won't take much to exceed the production from Spaghetti/Brown/France.
Yep, they are bad. I was using a euphemism. Neither one of these guys should be a starter on a club with World Series aspirations and it’s a GM / Front Office issue there is no other option.
I was going to post this. It’s very weird how often after a blowout win, the next game Altuve hits a solo home run and then they struggle to score again.
SIXTH career jack vs Eovaldi -- THREE is his highest total vs any other pitcher. Awesome start to the season! .
