This is stupid. He's not losing the locker room. Ime's confirming what he has, and doesn't hesitate to have these dudes grab some pine when it's time. There's a way they'll play under him, or they won't. Players will develop at different rates, and he's got his finger on the pulse of what's best for this team. It's called coaching.
So apparently coaches know who isn’t mentally ready to play a game before the game is actually played. You learn something new everyday
If a player or two come out flat, that's on the players. If over 90% of the rotation comes out flat, the coach definitely shares the blame. There's no reason for us to have lost to the Jazz last game even if Green didn't play a minute. Green's responsible for his screw up but Udoka failed miserably last game too. All coaches sometimes take responsibility for a loss during the regular season. I'm sure it's suspicious to the team that Udoka is comfortable criticizing them more than other coaches (which is good) but he takes less responsibility than any other coach. No one is perfect, nothing wrong with that. It's definitely something Udoka will improve as he matures as a HC.
I love the modern world, it’s amazing! I remember in ancient times, when I was in high-school, me and most of the class decided to skip school, went to a park and got drunk on a couple of vodka bottles (yeah, that’s all it took)… Next day, we got called to the principal office with our parents to face the consequences… Being the dumb early ‘80s neanderthals, never occurred to us to blamed it all on the teacher, never. Would have spared us plenty of of unpleasantries if we had these tools that kids have nowadays to evade responsibility.
Rudy T kicked our ass before the Orlando game. He knew we weren't mentally ready. So he kicked our Lolley gagging ass into gear.
I heard the whole team cleaned out their lockersr after the last game. If that's not losing it - I don't know what is
I still remember when Chris Finch was being groomed to be the Rockets head coach of the future. Well that didn’t stay as planned, and the Rockets changed direction and Finch moved on. The way Finch has Minnesota playing shows how right the Rockets management was back then, Finch is a great coach and was able to keep the Timberwolves near the top of the NBA west even though they sustained injuries.
Ime had his work cut out for him, and was able to get the Rockets to be a .500 team, which exceeded expectations for the majority of projections. Well at least those who don’t follow the Rockets with rose colored glasses, lol…
IIRC, they surprised everybody by opting for McHale instead. And the rest was history. I am still wondering who's idea it was for the McHale hiring and the subsequent extension and then promptly firing him in-season after just one year.
