Tweener 5-10 guys aren't it. They're just as much of a liability in the playoffs if not moreso than Sengun types. I have higher hopes for Sengun than I do for Trae Young ever becoming a championship level player. Trae on the Spurs might work with Trae/Vassell/Sochan/Wemby. You basically need the rest of the team to mitigate his deficiencies and only Chet/Wemby are good enough rim protectors while being decent range shooters to offset his issues. Look at how shitty Lillard makes the Bucks defense and they have Lopez/Giannis.
I haven’t heard of any available legit star player that I would want to cash in our chips to build around. Furthermore I really don’t like the idea of Rafel and Patrick making these critical franchise altering trade decisions. We’re gonna be stuck like Atlanta, with a crap owner who lets nepotism hold back a franchise from being really good.
Their defensive rating did fall from 111.9 to 115.4! But their net rating went from +3.5 to +4.4. You have to give a little to fill your needs. I actually mostly agree with what you’re saying. I don’t like the idea of two 6ft guards playing together. I also don’t like the idea of just standing around in the corner waiting for the perfect fit to fall in your lap.
I do get it but I'd rather trade for Mikal Bridges than Trae Young. And I don't really want to trade for Mikal Bridges. Trae is like worse Harden. You have to build around him and sacrifice a lot just to be a first round exit. I don't think the team would be that much better with him here, We'd go up slightly on offense to go down on defense. He's just not that guy. But I don't think Luka is that guy either for what it's worth. We need a Kawhi Leonard/Paul George/Jimmy Butler type that is an efficient two way demon. The Thunder are #1 because SGA is that. The closest player we have to being that is...well....Jabari Smith. No one else is even close.
