I think it’s kinda silly to accuse this front office of not being serious about winning. Loperfido being in AAA has zero to do with service time. It’s about the person he’d replace having the team on the hook for almost $40M, and it’s about the fact that Loperfido currently projects to be Joey Gallo without the walks and with a little less power/arm. For Loperfido to come up right now and have significant success in the majors would defy all statistical analysis and probability.

He’s not replacing Meyers. Meyers has played well and projects to be a much more valuable player than Loperfido. It doesn’t make sense to call him up to play sparingly in Singleton’s role. If he comes up now, it’s to play 1B every day. You can say the Astros would hang on to Abreu and let him rot on the bench like Kessinger has, but I very much doubt they’d do that; you don’t put a $20M/yr player on the bench, you either play him or get rid of him. What exactly is it about Loperfido that makes you think he’s the answer?
