Merrill Hodge IIRC, he was big on Mahomes and Deshaun while the media was boosting Trubisky, he essentially got blackballed by ESPN at the time for calling Manziel a 3rd rounder at best, and thought CJ over Bryce was a no brainer. I believe he wasn’t high on the 2021 QB class either. I’m pretty sure he also said he would take Josh Rosen with the No. 1 pick, and he can’t scout skill players at all.
He was right on Manziel and has rode that. He has more misses than hits. Anyone saying Maye isn’t athletic or is stiff is just a buffoon take. He also said Williams would bust fwiw
I was thinking more about when we sign Anderson and CJs new contracts in a couple years. Tank and Stingley might be huge money too if they keep improving. CJ and Will might have two of the highest contracts in the league, and I doubt we wait until the end of their rookie contracts to extend them a few years. We would get in a bidding war, especially with CJ's agent being in charge. We won't have near the money to spend for veterans in FA like we did this year. We're going to need to draft some good rookies to take over a lot of positions in all areas from the draft the next couple years.
lol Hoge throws things out there sometimes that are head scratchers. His misses are way out of left field
So he seems like just another color "analyst" to me. Nothing really different, but just another guy who's paid to write his opinion.
Hope I’m wrong but I just have zero confidence in that guy. I’ll trust Meco can turn his career around.
This party animal can't keep it together while the NFL draft is only 3 weeks away? Forget him. Texans should draft someone who has their head screwed on and is serious about their NFL career. There are few things I despise more than people driving while drunk. I hope he gets his life in order and succeeds with another team. Texans cannot afford to use a 2nd/3rd round pick on someone so likely to fail.
Honestly one of the best sounding jobs out there, getting paid generational wealth to give your opinion on a sport
