Perhaps the responses are a reflection of the human condition. Expectations define what people think should happen. Astros fans have become accustomed to winning all the time. When expectations are not met, something must be wrong.

 

Yeah it’s not that big of a deal. Probably should have another 2-3 wins but that’s baseball. As the sample size increases I expect that this team looks more like a 90 win team.

 

Perhaps. So far I would say the starting pitching has mostly been good enough, the bats aren’t consistently scoring enough runs and seem overly dependent on the long ball, while the bullpen, even the headlining bullpen arms, have consistently performed far below expectations. One would think the bullpen will self-correct. The runs, well that has consistently been a problem in recent history. The starting pitching, seems like that has potential to worsen as the season lengthens. Horrible results so far against playoff-caliber competition and that’s not getting any easier for the next couple of weeks. Only solace is we’ve seen these Astros have similar slow starts in recent years
