The Rockets are playing good basketball and just have been bitten by the injury bug. No Sengun, Adams, Eason, and now Thompson will always make winning less than a likely proposition against playoff caliber teams. That’s the NBA in a nutshell. Quit blaming everything on the one guy who gave us a legit shot at the play-in with all these injuries. Also, find it funny how nobody is blaming Cam (and just Jalen) for the losing streak as we won 11 in a row until he came back and haven’t won a game since.
Exactly. Jalen is the only one drawing major attention. Anyone with eyes and a brain should see that. I can’t image how bad we’d be right now without him.
I think the big problem right now is some keyboard warrior Someday they talked about some **** either we dont need Alpi or we have to get rid of Jalen
After he played so well, the other really good teams defended him much better in the last few games. Okay, he had some bad turnovers in important scenes, but that was partly due to his teammates' inability to score.
Agreed, but the org and Ime need to decide on some of these players now, while they have good trade value and whether or not they are what they want to build around......and if not trade them. We always knew there was a chance that any of them could be traded, with this end season tail off, I think it makes it even more likely. And not necessarily Jalen, or maybe him....could be anyone, honestly. DD
I’m not sure if they’ve defended “better” as much as they’ve thrown everything at Jalen and his teammates haven’t stepped up.
If he gets the credit for our win streak when he’s playing well….does he not get a good chunk of the blame for losses early in the season when he was objectively bad?
Understand Sengun fans, when he emerged as a star, he had a rough stretch for a couple of weeks and it was due to the same thing. Teams just constantly blitzed and trapped Sengun. We need both.
After only one year with Ime they're twice the team they were. They showed a ton of growth and toughness during that stretch with so many out. They're still young and on track for a great run next year. They'll all come back better and ready to run. For any of the naysayers...
Probably should have quoted my gripe in the OP claiming “he’s the one guy who gave us a shot at the play in”. We had a shot for the play in mostly because of FVV and Sengun if we’re looking at overall season impact. Because as great as Jalen was during that win streak and at random other points of the season, when you zoom out and look at the season as a whole, he was far from being “the one guy who gave us a shot at the play in”.
Well ya sure. I agree with that. But Green has been this year's KPJ as in he's the official scapegoat mascot this year. Ije comment that is wrong doesn't change that fact. I'm not even saying it's not deserved.
He hasn’t had any turnovers in important moments - he was tripped on one (L2M) report .. other Bari was grabbed by Edward’s on the steal (L2M) report ..
If Brooks has shot sub 20% from 3 and even less from 2 for the past 2 weeks FVV hasn’t shown up until 4th qtr Amen been neutralized Bari has been Bari and Holiday / Jeff Green and Landale returned to earth but it’s JG fault because he keeps making the right play instead of jacking 45-50 shots for 40 points and still getting the same hate from the same people win or lose
Since the winning streak ended, Jalen is shooting 21% from 3 with a 48.6% TS% with a defensive rating of 127 and an offensive rating of 97. Have other players been bad too? Sure, but Jalen has certainly been one of those awful players. The hot streak was fun because bad players like Jalen, Jock, and Brooks were all playing as if they weren't bad players. Now they are all back to being bad players.
Has JG ever seen a double team before the Dallas game? Is he not allowed an adjustment period? He could be like KD and stop taking the 3s at end of qtrs and shotclock so his % looks better The main reason his shooting is going back down is the same reason it was down before the streak ( better teams are aware of Amen, they blitz / double Jalen so ball isn’t in his hands - so now he can’t catch a rhythm … between doubles and keeping big at rim (his drives per game are now down again) Brooks and Amen and even Fred haven’t been able to make teams pay so the spacing has gone to crap again It’s why after the games players are saying the game plan was to stop JG and guess what, until Ime adjusts it’s going to work … only adjustment made for like 10min was using Bari as the screener instead of (Jock/Jeff/Amem) and Bari actually scored 10 points in a row and got 8-9 open looks
Yikes with the excuses..... Yes, I'm sure he's seen double teams before.....he's a 3 year vet. As to an "adjustment period".....wasn't his first 2 years in the league enough of an "adjustment period"? The main reason his shooting went back to where it has always been was that he's not a good shooter, he's a streaky shooter. He went on a hot streak, now it's over. Seriously the excuses need to stop...it's EXACTLY the kind of BS Thunder homers were saying about Westbrick....and Westbrick was a MUCH better player.
Agree. Jalen and Sengun are the cornerstones of this franchise for the near future. Once healthy, we will be a contender. Every other player, bar none (except maybe A Thompson), on this team is tradeable for a star. Especially guys who haven’t stepped up recently like Dillon Brooks.
