You have to surround him with shooters regardless because he is doubled and tripled team on a nightly basis.

Guys, could you please tell me which big there is that can constantly fight triple teams without the help of shooters?

I guess the positive side to this is at least the fanatics are debating about their recent draft picks from rebuild instead of debating about extending Wood/Oladipo and deciding to sit or play Wall etc

Nix and Bruno is the franchise duo that got away, Rockets really dropped the ball on that talented pair

You mean you have to surround him with shooters if the ONLY place he gets double and triple teamed is on the low block.

That’s the problem here - you can’t be the hub of the offense and only be effective working a player for 5-8 seconds within 10ft of the hoop. He is good at that thing for sure but there is no “hub of a team” in the league who isn’t a 3 level scorer. You can argue successfully that Sengun is the best offensive player on our roster right now…but you don’t build around a guy unless you can at very least be a 3 level scorer because that is the bare minimum to be built around in the NBA. For proof, look at every team in the modern NBA. I like Sengun, but dude has to add to that offensive game significantly to be the versatile player you need to be to even consider being built around.

It’s a shame we let go of the next Jrue Holiday in Josh Christopher and the next Brevin Knight in TyTy Washington. Guess we’ll have to make do with the meager young talents who remain with us :p

We're going to build around whichever of Sengun/Green fixes their 3pt shot first, it's really that simple it will totally differentiate one from the other.

If Jalen was hitting 37% of his 3's on this many attempts, it would be impossible to guard him as you've seen. I'm sure this coaching staff believe in themselves to be able to get there and I think Jalen understands it now too. People on this board sometimes have the mentality that he'll be a 32%-34% shooter forever under our wing but you have to ignore that loser mentality. We have a great staff who have shown excellent ability to make players take steps they needed to take to advance their career and the teams chances. They don't understand how development takes place outside of a PlayStation.

A lot more work on shooting, muscle and to a much lesser extent his handle. Same exact program for Sengun, these two have to carry us to a top 15 offense next season without sacrificing any defense. Minimum standard.

Cavs are trying to build around Mobley. He needs to be spoonfed to score.

Zion never shoots from the perimeter but he's their main guy

Jokic averages 1 three point field goal for game and he's a 2 times mvp.

You don't have to be a 3 level scorer to be number 1 option. If Sengun becomes 32-33% percent shooter (4 attempts) from the perimeter you build around him. Jokic became an mvp when he was shooting below 34% from the perimeter. Sabonis is arguably Kings' most important player and he can't shoot 3s. Centers who possess guard skills can easily be difference makers in this league because they are taller than anyone on the court and they can do what some guards can do so they become unguardable. Hs rotational speed makes him impossible to guard in the post. He has pretty decent handles for a center and when he gets the ball at the top of the key and cook whoever is standing in front of him. He can play iso ball as a 6'11 center. Him not being a KAT level shooter isn't a concern because he's different than others.

It’s less about where you score from and more about where people have to guard you. Take Zion(or Giannis for that matter) - you have to guard him well out to the perimeter because if you give him space to get downhill you are done. That’s why teams have tried to create human walls in the paint to stop Giannis(and mostly failed). The point is - Sengun has to find a way to make teams play him closely all over the court - shooting is one such way but certainly not the only way…and yes - having better shooters would help but that doesn’t get Sengun off the hook…and it also doesn’t let Udoka off the hook - he’s gotta find ways to get Sengun the ball maybe in a short roll situation against a numbers mismatch so scheme matters and like I said elsewhere Ime was playing around with Sengun focused sets before the injury so I know it’s on the roadmap…

There is no dilemma because only one of them is getting a max extension this offseason and clearly represent a core piece of the Rockets future.

Jalen Green should be made a RFA.

Diversity of attack. If pick-and-roll lob ball didn't work with Chris Paul and James Harden, why do we want to do it now?

There are a handful of players on planet Earth that allow you to invert your offense to take pressure off your guards. We have one of the best ones, and Jock and Aquaman ar perfectly capable as backups for this style.

Do it. JG is at his most efficient in DHOs. Put him and Amen Thompson in way more of them.

He definitely has to prove that he can play well for most of the year instead of just at the end of the season. And he needs to show consistency when playing the good teams.

I can still kinda understand the reasoning for not giving the max to Jalen this summer, even though I think he will deserve it if he stays consistent until the end of this season, but does anybody have a valid argument for not maxing Sengun after the stellar season he had?

JG’s performance vs Mavs and Warriors hopefully can shut people up about trading Goon?
