Good win. Bats woke up. Alvarez broke his slump. Pena with another hr. Pitchers put up 0. Early in the season but huge series against Texas. Yeah last year we came back and win the division but don't want to fall too far back. Crazy how they went 2-1 and the Jays only scored in 1 inning
Should be at least 4-3 right now, but bad luck is part of the game. The team has started 4 straight seasons 7-9. It seems our destiny to start slow one way or the other, even if we aren't actually playing poorly.
In his prime George was one of the most athletic players I’ve ever see, seems like he’s lost a bit of that athleticism and his game has taken a dive. Hope he gets it back but somehow that guys gotten kinda old, crazy how time flies
We are third in team batting average and I'm pretty sure we are first in starting rotation ERA, but somehow we keep losing with the three best relievers in the league. That's just bad luck.
I wonder how much of it can be attributed to mentally adjusting to new roles and environments... which would be more than luck, but fixable.
Ha… supposedly Espada was told by several different people - no Hader and ideally no Pressly. Hopefully he is learning…. No driving the Ferrari or Bugatti everyday.
I know it’s never fashionable to be optimistic in this subforum but 22 1/3 scoreless innings from Astros starters is pretty sporty
Well… he did get 5 outs for them to get the save… I’ll just say there are a lot of closers that aren’t getting you 5 outs. Also - good to see Musky has confidence in his middle relievers… not sure they like the quote much.
It is a VERY good sign… reminds me of the last World Series team we had that dominated in the playoffs… the pitching was just exceptional and consistent and it didn’t matter who was starting. Javier and Valdez are better rested and healthy and Javier appears to have not spent the whole off season eating cheese puffs and watching reruns of Inspector Gadget as his sofa molded around his expanding ass. Hader and Pressly and Abreu will get it straightened out. All three of those guys are also really mentally tough competitors.
