How do you get rid of these tremendously annoying pests? We had an inside cat that never went outside but some way got fleas. Now these little bastards are everywhere and I have already bombed the house TWICE, used Frontline on my carpet, and even used Raid for fleas. The Raid worked the best because I vacuumed a lot of dead fleas after using it. I still have the little damn things though. I setup a nightlight and a bow of soapy water under it and fleas are still around. I have sprayed carpet, floors, furniture, and everything in between yet I still get a bowl of about 10-20 fleas a night. How do you get rid of these things!!!!??? Any help will be GREATLY appreciated.

I've heard that pinching them really, really hard works.

I used Hartz 2 in 1 rid flea carpet powder a couple of weeks ago and it worked great. I sprinkled it all over the carpet and let sit for a few hours before I vacuumed.

    Edit:

Be sure to give your cat a bath too and use some Advantage on him or her.

Use the Advantage, better than powder, imo.

I think you have to treat your carpet as well. I heard the Gardenline guy on 950 say there is a 3 step process but I can't remember all of the details.

Treating your pet is likely the most important part.

We got him treated and finally got rid of him to a great home, my girlfriend's cousin is a lawyer with a 3 story house and no kids and each pet has a room of their own.

I'm going to get the previous owner of the cat to buy some powder and try that out.

It doesn't take much. Our indoor cat was boarded at a cheap kennel once and came back with fleas which stayed in the carpet for the next 6 months, long after the animal had been treated. I'm trying to remember how we finally did get them out.

Treat and re-treat. Most products do not kill the gestating eggs in the carpet. Therefore, when they hatch you are re-infested. I can't be certain, but I believe there is like a 21 day gestation period.

I used two products that said they kill flea eggs and larvae.

If you don't treat the carpet they'll live and hatch there. So the cat is treated, that means they'll jump on the humans in the house even more.

Definitely use Advantage. Your cat will remain flea free, but you will have to do something else for the carpets.

At my folks house we had a similiar problem. We used this stuff called either "FleaX" or "RidX", can't really remember. It's a white powder that you sprinkle on the carpets. You don't vaccum until weeks later. You have to kill the current fleas, and the eggs and little ones as well. Dude, it sucks I know. we'd walk through the living room, and 20 of those bastards would be on your leg. Good luck.

The product you used probably used boric acid as the main ingredient which kills ANY insect by drying their body out but it takes TOO long.

OK, well my bowl full of soapy water is killing more fleas than any spray I have tried yet, or at least that's what I get by looking at it. I have ordered carpet powder online that should be here in a few days but the company I work for has a steam cleaner they said I could borrow. Do you guys think that would do any good?

It's like putting the fleas in a sauna...they'd probably be hungry afterwards.

Or you'll steam them until it kills them...good source of protein...steamed fleas.
