Far too early to panic, but, yeah, there wasn't much to feel good about from this first series. It sucks to completely **** the bed at home to start the season, but this team will look a little better if it ever gets healthy again.
I don’t think health was the issue. The offense is healthy and the starting pitching for the most part held par … the bullpen is also “healthy” - it just sucks
Abreu bounced back strong after his horrific 1st game. Hader's ERA is 3.00. Pressly has a proven track record of very good play. JV and Urquidy's return will allow a starter going to the bullpen and eating some innings. Going forward, maybe the umps will call replays on the basepaths fairly and opponents won't feast on bloop hits while our 100+ exit velo's get caught or land foul by inches.
Positives first 4 games.................Pena and Diaz look good and the starting pitching outside of Framber was decent for week one. I think the Yankees got all the lucky breaks, not to mention they are stacked, Soto is a great addition. I really thought we had them in the 9th but Altuve was robbed and Yordan got a bad break. Abreau and Singleton are a horrible duo at First. I hope Framber gets back on track but man he looks like 2nd half Framber opening day. It`s only 4 games but it's now a 4-game deficit to the Yankees which we will need to make up. I`m starting to think that this home loss streak is a real thing...........Tonight is not a must game but I think we need to rebound and sweep this series
Yeah, I hear ya. I'd of loved to see us shore up the rotation more too. I didn't have an issue with Hader though. But yeah, didn't do much for our rotation. Agreed.
My newest theory on that is that its not something that works against the Astros as much as the teams coming in here have been beaten up by the Stros for years and the opponents mojo gets a jump start every game. Other teams are ready to take it to us. Meanwhile, our guys are a bit too pedestrian. To compensate, our guys need to treat every home game as if its an elimination playoff game. I certainly haven't seen that this year, but they need to find it. As for why road games are so different, I haven't a clue
Time will tell the full story. Neris is balling. Maton and Stanek both have FIP's over 5.00. Really would suck seeing Ryne do well in the division.
