If this continues, you have got to start sitting players and giving others a chance. Abreu would be the first to sit.
Godspeed young man, bring a pair of Solar glasses to protect your eyes from potential blindness from suck.
We should've trade Pena while his value was higher. I don't think I can continue to watch him flail at sliders and cutters 6" away from the plate. He had a couple of errors too. He's regressing in every way. He was just a slightly above average defensive SS last season. It's not to overcome his ineptitude at the plate. Rookie season he got away with with it because of his gold glove and his power which has now been zapped. Dubon was better him than him on both ends last season. GG defense and led the team in doubles for most of the season before Altuve got back.
It's not just that, but why is Singelton batting 6th? He should be batting 9th if you have to play him.
The home field mental block is one of the most pathetic and sad things I’ve ever seen in Sports. There is no good excuse for it. It’s absolutely disgusting.
We knew middle relief would be an issue, but the bullpen 0-3 in 3 games is rough particularly with Abreu and Presley looking rusty.
FWIW, this is from an early season article a year ago….. “5. Customary slow starters From afar, it may appear that the Houston Astros have been suffering from a World Series hangover in the early going. They entered the weekend with a 9-10 record on the young season, and at one point in the last 10 days they occupied fourth place in the American League West. The Astros are not accustomed to looking up at anyone in the division, let alone three others. We'll close out by noting the Astros have made a habit in recent years of starting slow. They finished last April with an 11-10 record and a negative run differential. In 2021, they lost series to the Detroit Tigers and Colorado Rockies en route to a 7-10 start. (They finished April with a 14-12 record.) The Astros showed no ill effects from either slow start, of course. They reached the World Series both falls, and along the way won a combined 201 regular season games.” https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/...ns/#:~:text=We'll close out by,a 14-12 record.)
In Houston’s field, the Astros sigh, Their homers fade, their averages die. The batters’ eye, a cunning foe, Turns home field dreams to woe. Fans plead, “Let the ball be seen!” For victories in the home scene. May clarity come, and shadows flee, So Astros win, and fans cheer with glee.
At least the starting pitching has been pretty good. It's too bad Brown's value pick relievers have all been failures.
