I’m sorry but anyone who thinks Jalen and Sengun can’t play together is frankly an idiot and knows nothing about the game of basketball. You take the Fred Van Vleet + Al P pick n roll that we were running to death at the beginning of the season and replace FVV with JG. We’ve seen when Jalen has it going that teams are trying to double and trap him high from the on-ball screens. He’s been pretty effective at countering it - one play in the 4th quarter that sticks out from last nights win against OKC is Jalen dishing it to Jock Landale in the center of the paint for the easy push shot. Now imagine Jalen’s dishing it to Al P, who gets to play 4v3 with a wide open paint and 3 shooters/cutters. Ok, so instead of doubling Jalen, lets say the defenders try to fight through the screen. If you go under, you leave Jalen wide open from 3. If you go over, Jalen’s going to drive to the basket with Sengun as the roll man + 3 shooters/cutters. Ok, so maybe the defense decides to switch on the pick. Now you have Jalen with the option to cook a big man off the dribble, where he can easily drive and score/dish - or instead, Jalen can defer to Sengun in the high post with a mouse in the house, which is going to either lead to a high efficiency shot or a quick double team that Sengun can dish out of. If Sengun can develop a respectable catch and shoot 3-ball (which i would say is very likely given his age and outside shooting ability already), now you can even run the pick and pop with Sengun. Green/Sengun could absolutely run a Murray/Jokic type system and the fact that these guys are 22 and 21 y/o and both have shown they can put the team on their back and pull out tough wins vs. playoff teams is crazy. If Ime Udoka can turn a rookie Amen Thompson with a loose handle and no jumpshot to speak of into a regular 20+ pt/10 reb guy on offense, why the hell don’t you think he can figure out a Sengun/Green offense? Not to mention we also have Amen Thompson, Cam Whitmore, Tari Eason, Jabari Smith Jr, and a likely top 10 pick in this draft from Brooklyn. Reading Clutchfans these days it’s so obvious that most of the posters here were not fans in the 9th seed era between the Tmac + Yao and Harden eras. That “rebuilding” Rockets team had guys who played hard, and I loved them, but no one was making Chuck Hayes or Patrick Patterson highlight reels. We would have killed to have even ONE prospect as good as Sengun/Green/Amen/Whitmore, let alone six ridiculously talented and athletic young guys. Y’all have no idea how good we have it. Shut this stupid ass thread down.
If he doesn't the solution is definitely to dump him like yesterday's garbage It wouldn't make sense at all to get him to work on his conditioning
Sounds good. If Udoka can find that sweet spot to maximize both Sengun and Green's strengths and make them mesh, this team could be taking a huge leap next season.
Bro, why don't you discuss this with him? May be he would convince you better than anyone here so that you won't troll people here.
Here’s one way to look at it. Yes. We are now a better team because of Sengun’s absence. His absence has forced Jalen to rise or fall. He has risen, no blasphemy intended. Sengun + more confident and dynamic Green = better teams
Outside of Thib teams... no one plays as much as they did in the 90s. He has the stamina for this era.
I had a bad shoulder and had to learn how to throw left handed, it ain't that hard for professionals like me. DD
This is stupid. Every game we could have a different no. 1 option. It will depend on match-ups, who’s on a hot streak, what the other team is giving us. We have 3 potential superstars and 3 potential all-stars all under 22 years old. Not only that, this team has been built with players that can play mulitiple positions. I’m glad Jalen is stepping up finally. Sengun will be the top scorer some games, Cam will be the top scorer some games. The NBA is going back to showtime basketball and the Rockets are perfectly positioned for it as long as our young players continue to progress and our outside shooting is consistently good.
Stop. NOW. We need you to continue with the Jalen hatred please before you go getting another ****ing prospect injured.
Also, wasn't he literally just advocating quite strongly for Jalen to be traded? I mean, I was ready to trade Jalen and his latest hot streak is changing my mind, but talk about flip-flopping.
He's trying to pretend he's reasonable now he's got no chance of his smear campaign succeeding. 3 years of next level blind hatred and propping up KPJ, reaching hard for bullshit reasons Jalen's a "guaranteed bust" and even trying to claim he's the same player as KPJ so we should definitely trade Green. He doesn't realise that KPJ in his 4th season showed less star flashes than Jalen did in his 1st season, nevermind his second and third seasons. He's the one guy who actually really does owe Jalen an apology, because his criticism was never reasonable, and never grounded in reality.
