Jalen Green is the X-factor, IMO. I have been refraining from commenting on the Jalen threads since the ASG. His recent play has given us hope, yet again. But I can also see why people aren't sold because of the previous disappointment after great performance toward the end of the season, not once, but twice. Whether you believe in him or not, his star potential is undeniable. This is why he is so hard to assess even after almost three seasons. And it doesn't help that the previous two seasons were abnormally chaotic. Who knows how Green and Sengun would develop if given a better environment.

If Jalen becomes what we hoped for when he was drafted, or if we can trade him for a star level guy, then we are on our way to a great future. If not, we'll have to wait for at least one of Sengun and Amen to develop a respectable outside shot to get to the next level.

I feel that Jabari still has untapped potential, not to mention Cam and Tari. All of them can be important core pieces for a contender when they enter their prime. And we still have a pretty high pick from the Nets. Hopefully we can get an elite shooter.

TLDR: Jalen Green is the x-factor in terms of how our trajectory may go.

The Ringer podcast said the exact same thing. Said he's the accelerant if the Rockets want to be anything more than just a decent mid team.

I said if healthy....what is the risk?

He has all summer to heal if he sprains it again.

Will Sengun accept his role coming off the bench?

Yes, it's quite common that players coming back from injury come back from the bench and on a minute restriction in their first game back.

Even if it's only for a couple of token minutes, and if it's safe, let him check into at least 2 games to reach the 65 game plateau for consideration of Most Improved Player award.

If Sengun's injury is season ending, he'll already be eligible for MIP, by virtue of playing 62 games and at least 85% of his teams game prior to his injury:

The 65-game rule calls for players to meet one of the following criteria
    1. The player played in at least 65 regular-season games
    2. The player played in at least 62 regular-season games, suffered a season-ending injury and played in at least 85% of the regular-season games played by his team prior to the player suffering said injury
Additionally, unless a player logs at least 20 minutes in a game, it does not count to the games played total; each player is allowed 2 instances where they play between 15 and 20 minutes to count.

So ironically, if Sengun comes back but is on a playing time restriction <15 min (which would be very reasonable considering how they handled Tari before), he'd become ineligible, whereas if he stays out for the rest of the season, he'll remain eligible.

Even if he is completely healthy, he shouldn't return, the team is very good, they beat everyone, with this form, I'm sure they have the strength to beat everyone even without Alperen, wouldn't that be stupid?

If he’s healthy, our best player should play. Period

This only works when it’s the Clippers and you have Josh Smith and Corey Brewer.

Yep. This reminds me of when another team lost their starting big to injury, started a young 6'7 player instead, then went on a huge run.

Maybe we get 4 championships out of it like they did ? :D

    https://nydnrehab.com/blog/return-to-sport-after-a-soccer-ankle-injury-how-soon-is-too-soon
"However, returning to sport without adequate recovery and rehabilitation is risky. Not only does premature RTP put an athlete at risk for re-injury of the same ankle, but it also sets them up for compensation injuries as they redistribute force loads to protect the injured appendage. In other words, something else gets injured as the athlete, consciously or subconsciously, strives to prevent re-injury".

This is the reason you don't rush players to come back. Its not the sprain you need to worry. Its getting other injuries and sometimes getting re-injury which is dangerous on its own. You want players like Alpi long-term.
