The CGI is cartoony at best. But really, the CGI just looks kind of bad. But hey! I loved the show. Seen it several times. I'll hope this is good. Keep M Night Shyamalan far away.

Its a memorable story, but translating comics to live action isn't easy even with cheaper CG.

It's why the original MCU movies were great at the time

It doesn't look bad at all to me.

I still expect it to be mid at best, but the trailer didn't sour me...the list of failed animated adaptations a mile long does.

i'm more curious about the creative differences that made the original creators leave the project. netflix have been giving off sony executive vibes lately. where executives force their creative input over the creative talent.

there's also also a new avatar animated series coming out next year on paramount+ from the original creators.

Sooooo, anybody watch this yet? Don't want to watch another Cowboy Bebop that will get cancelled after 1 season.

I read they tried to make Sokka less sexist. In the original show he was clearly not a bad guy. He was a bit of a doofus and somewhat ignorant. And it was comedy watching him try to be chivalrous/condescending to girl characters who were often much more powerful than him. The joke was always on him.

My question is, what is wrong with that? Why is that not allowed in 2024? Watered down bullshit.

That being said, based on the trailer it looks like it will be really good. I'm excited to see if they can do justice to the original show after the movie failed so bad.

It wasn't good. It was bad. It wasn't horrible, but it was bad. Iroh is my favorite character and I think they did a bad job portraying him.

DDK as Ozai was great. Zhao was great too, and was actually much better than in the original show. Seeing Kyoshi fight was neat. The earth bending looks really good.

    But everything else? Ehhhhhhhh.

That said.... will watch seasons 2 and 3, just because I enjoy the world so much.

Had to stop watching ~20 mins into the first episode.

I really wanted to like the show. From when they first announced this series, I never understood the purpose of doing it live-action because the material seems tailor-made for animation IMO.

I would love for them to continue it animated without being woke nonsense.

The original creators are actually making a ton of animated content that will come on Nickelodeon/Paramount, and even a film for theater release of grown up Aang Gang.
