Roosh was troll baiting and Jalen responded. Not exactly hard to do keep calling a player names on the court bet he will come back to you as well.
Roosh is just some random with a source whether that's his friend or acquaintaince. It doesn't make him some super insider and it doesn't make him some sort of VIP. Whatever source he had by coming hard at Stone and his wife I highly doubt that source is gonna be willing to give him more info moving forward. He isn't Woj or Shams people aren't gonna risk their jobs just to make sure Roosh is getting his intel.
You must remember it isn’t always wise to hitch your wagon to just one horse when there is still plenty of time to maximize value to the franchise by the young players growing into their potential. I know too many fans are eager to proclaim they identified the most talented ahead of the crowd. Which is fine as long as it doesn’t become a personal vendetta. I’m fine with the upper management doing deals, if their metrics say it’s time to move a player. If eventually all the young players turn into all-stars, it’s a good problem to have!!!
....its not that no one wanted him, it's that no one was willing to pay the asking price. Those are two entirely different things. Green could be traded on a moments notice if the price is low enough but the point of contention is "how much is his value". I agree with Stone that selling low is not particularly valuable for us - especially if you still have him under contract for one more year. The absolute worst thing you can do as an org is trade him for a bag of chips and have him figure it out next year while playing on another team. Honestly it would be better if we lost him in FA for nothing than to trade him for some player with no upside. It would be one thing if Jalen's presence was hurting the development of another player but it feels like there are enough minutes for Jalen AND Cam right now and Cam isn't necessarily ready for 30+ minutes a game anyway....and oh by the way, we aren't one Jalen Green trade away from anything significant as a team.
if you dont know who his source is now you're not paying attention. it's certainly possible his source stops feeding him info - that would be to the detriment of the fanbase unfortunately - and on both Roosh for being too bragodocious and sensitive, and the Rockets community for being too sensitive.
We don't know what part of that info came from Stone and what came later. He could've said, "We're open to listen to offers," knowing that he would only take a huge return. When Stone didn't get one he liked, Roosh could've interpreted that as nobody wanted him at all. I only trust these sources if they have actual quotes, preferably with audio or video to back it up. And even then I'd want to hear a big chunk of it to get the context. One little sentence can be misinterpreted so many ways.
Woosh .... that's the joke flying over your head. Back when some of us were 12 ..... that Fredricks catalog was the closest thing we could get to p*rn.
For whatever hold KPJ had on the Rockets front office and ownership, it certainly seemed like he won over Coach Udoka as well during the summer. I'm not going to forget the introductory press conference where KPJ was put front and center as the representative of the old guard welcoming Udoka to the team. I am under the assumption that Udoka was the chief voice and influence in the room that kept the Rockets from signing Harden and pivoting to FVV (I would be happy to be told I am wrong, I just base it on publicly reported information). If Udoka could come in and was able to blow up a reunion with probably the third best player in franchise history, I would assume he'd have the stroke necessary to get KPJ off the team if he thought he couldn't be controlled or was a danger to what he was building. As much as we want to point to Coach Udoka bringing in a new culture of accountability, even he had a level of arrogance in thinking KPJ could keep it together and be part of the team prior to his arrest.
It very much looked like KPJ invited himself to that press conference. Or Stone/Fertitta. Not Ime. Ime was surprised and was just being friendly.
Ime was too new to this situation to invite anyone to be honest with you.....he was like the guy at Orientation.
I think you are reading way too much into a press conference where Green, on his own, decided to attend. Udoka really didn’t know Green well either - the person pushing hard for KPJ to succeed was Stone. Yes - Udoka wanted FVV, but it wasn’t to give Porter minutes - it was to let Green play SG while FVV could play the point. As for the relationship between Porter and Udoka - I haven’t heard much about it one way or the other. I do know that Porter really wanted to play for Udoka, but never have had someone tell me Udoka was high on Porter. Also hard to blame or praise a new coach that hadn’t worked with KPJ before - and let’s not forget that KPJ could charm important people when he wants to - the Stone family, the owner and his family and Silas for awhile as well.
