But isn't that the whole point of all sports?

Are we really listening to Bob Nightengale and Michael Schwab for our info?

Those Bagwell-led Montero and Abreu contracts are looking even more pitiful now...

That’s because The Astros haven’t made the trades yet to make that competitive offer. Source: Deuce

Of course that's the point of sports... but it's a feeble minded basis for analysis when it comes to individual players in team sports.

Was Andy Pettitte a better pitcher than Nolan Ryan? According to postseason justwinz, it's not even close, 4T had all the winz

There tends to be more opportunities to blow saves when you are winning... and the save % was still near the top of thr league last year...

I'm sure that's how a "justwinz" type would see it.... however I'd point to his K rate falling, his FIP skyrocketing, and his WHIP increasing above 1.

His pitching simply declined... and will likely continue to do so as he is 35 after all.

I’m more interested in wtf is going on with Framber. If this is who Framber has become then pull the trigger on Snell I guess.

I would have liked Nolan to get a few more outs in 80, 81 and 86 for the Postseason winz, and rings and stuff

Sure, and I'd have liked it if he had more run support and some more playoff opportunities before his 30's. Part of it being a team game and all.

You aren't seriously suggesting that Andy Pettitte was the superior pitcher though..... right?

It's not as if I am arguing that Jeriome Robertson was the greatest rookie pitcher we ever had just because of wins total. Nor am I arguing Tim Redding is better than Roy Oswalt because of "stuff."

Press knows the defense around him and his limitations. Roy O had his K numbers decline but stayed elite for the same reason when he pitched to contact.

You are the only person who has suggested this.

So you're suggesting you can't follow the analogy, or are you just being a contrarian?

The coping phase of the Snell negotiations are underway.

This may also mean refusing to pitch on short rest, go beyond a pitch count limit, or go more than 3x through the order in the stretch run.... but 100% of Snell for 5 IP is better than well you know... the guy we buried in the H.
