I haven't watched fields but if tomlin is able to have picketts win 14 games w/ only 13 tds, he might b the one to make fields servicable
Steelers now have two QBs better than any QB on their roster last year. At least this is progress. I doubt Russell Wilson likes this trade. Justin Fields should love it. Russ is going to feel serious heat at some point and fans will clamor for Justin. I predict Justin will take over as starter during the season and his career will be defined by what happens.
They already reportedly turn down 2 #1s + Higgins from the Bengals. We should drop any Jefferson thoughts.
Wilson was signed for minimum salary on a one-year deal simply because the Steelers could. I don't think there's anyway he's starting over Justin Fields next season.
The report on ESPN is that Fields is not even being considered to start. He will sit behind Wilson and learn.
I find it hard to believe that will happen. Fields is in the last year of his contract, and the Steelers are looking for their QB of the future here. They have to find out sooner rather than later whether they are going to keep him, and given Wilson is 35 years old, I'm not sure he's going to be any kind of long-term plan for them. Ultimately, they managed to get two legit starting QBs for a combined very-little-money and a 5th round pick, so they did really well here whatever route they go, but unless they think they are in win-Superbowl-this-year mode, there doesn't seem like much reason to start Wilson.
I don't disagree with you. It is just being reported they aren't letting Fields compete with Wilson and they will sit him. They are only giving up a 6th if this happens.
Might be one of those things they are saying for now to not upset Wilson who probably thought he signing to be a starter. Especially after Pickett's b****ing a few days ago.
