This is the equivalent of "chicks dig the log ball" forum posters dig the big names and draft moves that lead to moving up in the draft. Caserio hits alot of singles and doubles which is why I am glad he is running the team. No one is going to be 100 percent but I think he will avoid future cap purgatory and continue adding Talent

Had a feeling that they appeared to be trading back from their pick. I do wish they waited a bit longer though. Closer to draft day, I think we had more leverage.

So the draft party has become a uniform reveal party?

Would you trade MN 2nd + conditional 2025 (mid-round) pick for Jaycee Horn?

I’d use our 2nd and do that.

The Texans won the trade value wise but 19 slots down is a lot.

I was expecting a potential trade down to be within 10 slots or so.

Sweat at 42 would be nice.

    Leverage from who?

They would not have gotten a 2nd round pick next year. The Vikings needed the pick now. For example, From the 2023 draft:

    GIANTS RECEIVE:

    JAGUARS RECEIVE:

    BILLS RECEIVE:

    JAGUARS RECEIVE:
The Texans got that 2nd rounder next year for moving out of the 1st. Otherwise.....Bills and Jags received a 4th and a 5th/7th to move down 2 spots.

a high 2nd round pick is MUCH MORE VALUABLE than a 4th or 5th.

    From the 2022 Draft:

Closest to the Minn/Texans trade -

    JACKSONVILLE RECEIVES:

    TAMPA BAY RECEIVES:

    Another:

    NEW YORK RECEIVES:

    TENNESSEE RECEIVES:

    One more:

    BALTIMORE RECEIVES:

    BUFFALO RECEIVES:

That 2025 pick could be in the 33-38 range. That is the best value along with the 6th-round pick they got for this year.

With everyone signing DTs, this is probably going to push DTs down further in the draft. We can probably get Sweat at #59

I still think the Texans will regret not picking at 23

Trading back does not prevent them from trading back up.

There is value from 3 things:
    1. Compression of value of players between 23 and 42. This is strictly on the specific players in this year's draft.
2a. The chart value of future picks is greatly under actual value.
2b. The chart value of future picks is static rather than dynamic. See the hand wringing over the
    WAJ Trade last year.
    3. The value of Draft picks TO THE TEXANS will grow higher as we get closer to conversion of Rookie Contracts to Negotiated Contracts. Players with High Dollar short term FA contracts will need to be replaced at that time with lower priced rookie contracts to maintain the window of Superbowl Competitiveness beyond these conversions of our key players.

Perhaps a fourth is putting Caserio in a position on the second day of moving up and down to secure the players the Team has targeted. He has a peculiar talent at this which should be utilized.

The only reason I don’t like trading back already is for the possibility one of: Quinton Mitchell, Terrion Arnold, or Byron Murphy could fall.

since that is probably unlikely I’m okay with it targeting these players in Rd2:

    Kris Jenkins
    Rule Orhorhoro
    Koolaid
    Ennis Rakestraw
    Max Melton
    Khyree Jackson
    AD Mitchell
    Roman Wilson
    Ladd McConkey
    Ricky Pearsall
