Only thing I don’t like about this FA signing for the Titans is the Jags are likely going WR in the first round ahead of us.
I guess someone else agrees with me - I think he can be a 1,500 yard a season receiver for a few seasons if he stops betting on sports and decides to focus on football... he is a HOF type talent that has decided to **** around.
Another reason for the Texans to draft a WR in the first 1st round. Nico is good, but I am not sure he is worth more than $20 mil a year if that is what he is looking for.
I think the Ridley contract is what it would cost to extend Nico this offseason, if he has a year as good or better next year, it'll just go higher.
Jefferson, Lamb, Chase and Aiyuk won't sign for anything less than $28M/yr. Jefferson and Chase are probably asking for $35 million.
Compartmentalizing my assumption that we are replacing Collins with a better DT somehow how: 1). I like that we didn’t go out and pay big Wr money in free agency. Loved that we brought Brown back on a value deal. The draft is the deepest we’ve seen in a long time at WR. If we could cut Woods and grab Samuel off the market that would be great, but love that it looks like we are gonna address WR through the draft. Did you see what Atl paid Darnell Mooney? Yikes. 2). I like that we didn’t go out and pay big money for a corner. To me it’s a critical position worth paying for, but I didn’t see difference makers on the market, and this draft is also a very strong corner draft. I like the Okudah value signing, and the low cost depth signings. I expect us to use a 1st or 2nd rounder on corner and I think that makes a lot of sense vs overpaying for an older guy. 3). I want to see us go bargain hunting for a safety. There are just too many good safeties available for value money. Jimmie Ward will be 33 in July and underperformed last yr. I think it’s a good opportunity to lock up an undervalued safety for cheap.
I genuinely think we’ll franchise Nico for a year and then let him walk. Just enough time to develop a young WR.
