Its incredible how many talking heads think the Texans are taking an offensive lineman in the first round. these people know nothing about the Texans
it’s not outside the realm of possibility (especially if they think it’s possible Tytus doesn’t come back to the same level and he could be a cap casualty in 2025) I think the first pick will be a CB or DT but if all the good ones are gone by 23 that means likely some great OTs fell. Swing tackle this year and potential starting RT next.
Nah bro. That dude has a Jones fracture in his foot. That’s a hard pass with a first round pick. Hell I’d pass on him even with a second round pick.
Similarly the desire to trade up for a TE or to draft one at all when we just invested 36Ms at the position. CB, WR, S, DT, RB, LB, OL would be the order if drafting for "need" but everyone knows its always BPA.
The Texans gave Tytus a new big contract to play right tackle. He didn't fall off last year, he moved to left guard to cover for injuries. The Texans wont take an offensive lineman in the first two days of the draft
Disagree. If Bowers is the next sure fire elite TE then you go get him. TEs are way more valuable than WRs as we have seen over and over in the playoffs and Superbowls. Kelce, Kittle, Gronk, etc. Nick knows the value of dual TE mismatch threats from Hernandez and Gronk in NE.
Yes! Agree 100% Especially if you look at these TE Draft Profile comparisons. Draft Profile Next Gen Stats Bowers 96 Elite Kelce 83 Good Gronkowski 83 Good If those stats are any indication of how good a player might be, the I'd say Bowers is worth trading up for.
Thats interesting considering that Houston runs one of the fewest 12 personnel schemes in the NFL. You guys are severely underrating Shultz while propping up an unproven guy. I like Bowers, but EVERY SINGLE YEAR there is that "cant miss TE" that misses. The position is not as valuable as you might think. https://www.nfeloapp.com/nfl-power-ratings/nfl-team-tendencies/
Kelce and Gronk were also both 3rd rounders. Now, look up all the 1st round TEs that were drafted that became busts. Id rather draft a Corner.
I just want the sure fire guys. 2022 I wanted Linderbaum and Hamilton both of which were considered elite sure fire but had silly warts like track speed and short arms. Sure enough Baltimore takes both, each become pro bowlers and help to kick the Texans ass in the playoffs. Take the proven productive, sure fire guys.
Bowers is a talent though which is why people still bring up drafting him. Run some double TE sets or something, they'd figure it out. I still say Texans should go WR in the first or Sweat if he is somehow there.
