Nah. Carry over 50million from this year's cap. Then add on another 50 million from next year's cap. Then you have the following year's cap. Sign CJ to a huge5 year contract with 150 million signing bonus and all the money payable in the first 2 years!

I mean, technically if you’re investing from the bargain bin, you’re still investing. He’s not wrong. At the time of this post, I think we’re worse than last year.

For sho'. I would somewhat agree with those posters if we had kept the talent that departed. But not replacing them is dangerous. A couple of the guys we wanted are still available but getting concerned.

He hasn’t missed a ton yet due to injury but he’s also shown that he can’t quite be a loan lead back (work horse) type due to his stature or lack thereof.

He only had this past season as the true feature back and got off to a hot start but couldn’t keep the steam up heading down the stretch and into the postseason.

This has been a pretty underwhelming/disappointing free agency period for the Texans on the first day. So far they've lost a few starters and other potential targets signed elsewhere.

The 4th most cap space available and your star QB on a rookie deal. This is the perfect time to spend big. Not these bargain bin signings on 1-2 year deals.

The front office did an amazing job in 2023 and set the Texans up for success for years to come.

What's the point in having all this money if you aren't going to use it?

    Just do something exciting.

Almost by definition, if you get a player in free agency, you're overpaying because you were probably the highest bidder.

There's no such thing as "being a player in free agency" while avoiding overpaying.

I wouldn’t label it “flexing” I just feel like everyone that is gloom and doom right now, set the HIGHEST expectations because we had “so much” cap space.

All I’m saying is that there is still plenty of talent left on the board. There’s really no reason to be arms in air because we didn’t necessarily make the big “splash” most expected us to make.

It’s not like they sat on their hands and didn’t try for Saquon, he decided to go a different route.

I’m glad we didn’t sign him for the contract he got. I feel like the offer he received from us was competitive.

The day isn’t over and we still have many more days to follow with guys that can sign for that much cheaper than market value.

Or just be angry and be the Texans forum rain cloud. Cool.

Yeah right. That's gonna surround him with a great team. Maybe we can sign a few old guys on their decline with the scraps.
