It’s the only major sport where drafted players make immediate impact. Makes the draft so much more important and entertaining.
Have a feeling we sign Wilkins and then wait until most of the other big fish sign and then go bargain hunting. With all the FA depth this year Nick must be salivating at the chance to lowball a RB.
Wilkins and McKinney would be huge. McKinney might want too much though. I hate to lose Greenard. It's going to be interesting to see who we can get for the most value. We might get more than we expected with so many free agents, and the players might have to do some compromising in negotiations. We've got CJ, Will Anderson, DeMeco, Tank and a promising young team as a lure though.
Texans might be able to get Barkley at like 4 years 24-28 million which is a massive bargain in my eyes for a top 5 RB. I just don't think there's a team willing to shell out massive amounts of money for a RB when they aren't contenders. The teams with 30 million or so cap don't want to spend 1/3 of that on a RB. Those who need a RB and are contenders are literally just the Texans and Bengals. I think he comes to Houston on a bargain deal.
Just remember that they are going to invest in the dline in the draft too. Letting Greenard go will suck, but they’ll almost certainly sign some veterans and draft multiple dlinemen.
Good organizations are constantly replacing guys through the draft. Hard to pay impact DT, impact LB and two impact DE on second contracts. Need to be able to replace them.
Has anyone suggested Blake Corum for you? This guy got more TDs than any other collegiate RB in 2023. He has a real nose for the end zone and was ranked in the top 2-3 in last year's draft before returning for school. Thanks for sharing. He might be a nice pickup in the draft to add depth to our running game, and maybe as a future starter down the road if he excels. No telling which round he would go, but if it's the 2nd I doubt the Texans pick up a RB if they pay big bucks in FA for one. If he slid down though, maybe we would. I have a hunch we'll go mainly defense though, and a WR and possible OL on offense.
With so many options at Safety in FA market, we should be able to add someone good at a reasonable price. Keep 'em coming!
This is a great time for teams in free agency to have some money lol. So many solid players on the market.
I still want McKinney out of all the safeties he’s only going to be 25!!! Fits our timeline way better Or Geno Stone
