What we have "invested" in our o-line means "NOTHING" in regards to what they actually are! Just like draft position means zilch as to how good a player you are. Our best lineman Tunsil is an excellent pass protector and an average run blocker! Is any other member a top 10 player at his position? Top 15? C.J. made them look MUCH better than they actually were. "Elite", like I implied is laughable!

Personally I wonder how good Wilkins really is? Only saying this because I'm not sure, not because I think he isn't. I know he's always been considered a good run stuffer and 9 sacks was a career year for him but I wonder how many hits, pressures, etc... he has. Usually a teams' fan base sees the player's warts watching them week to week. Has anyone done a deep dive at the Finheaven forums yet? lol I guess if we pursue him that means DeMeco has signed off on him as a player and I trust his "eye" MUCH more than I do NC's.
FWIW, PFF had an overall grade of 85.1 and 83.3 in 2022 and 2021 respectively. I don't have a subscription, so I can't see the detailed grades. He does seem to make a lot of tackles for a DT prior to last year, and he probably profiled as an elite run defender. He got less tackles last year, but was able to get 9 sacks and 23 QB Hits. Sounds to me like a big improvement on what we have at DT.

They did not do "just fine" with Singletary. Yes, relative to what they were doing with Pierce, they did "just fine", but Singletary as your primary back will regress in his YPC, and the running attack will be capped as mediocre at best. Why would you want to pigeon-hole this offense as purely pass driven when you have an opportunity to give it a SERIOUS boost in a position that will not require a tremendous investment ($12M/yr for a player of Barkley's caliber is NOT a big investment). You can still address defense by signing Christian Wilkins, Al-Shaair, re-signing Derek Barnett, and drafting a CB in the first round. The safety market is one I'd be willing to wait out. There are a lot of decent to good safeties out there, and if one of them happens to be the odd one out on a long-term deal, I'd be willing to throw some money at him at the end of the FA cycle. Otherwise, I'm comfortable moving forward with Ward and Pitre.
