There is no dilemma, Jalen is terrible at basketball, Sengun is promising. Dumping Jalen is just getting rid of dead weight, it has nothing to do with Sengun or anyone else.....you get rid of awful players when you can.
Jalen Green does not get a vote this year, the way he has shot the ball. I will say that DHOs are vastly underused. JG is elite at them, and Alperen is elite at them. We never run them, despite being tops in the league in them. Instead, Fred dribbles. We DO have some systemic problems on offense, but we only have one player who does not hold himself accountable. That is Jalen Green. I'd build around the guys who take it on the chin and grind away when no one is looking.
Generally in a dilemma there’s valid points on both sides that isn’t the case here. It’s overwhelmingly lopsided
If he is not traded, I'd be curious to see If Jalen Green can do anything with one more off-season. This year has been a nightmare for him. I get it for those that want him to move on. But I'd be intrigued to give him another Summer of work. A lot of it would depend on what coaches are seeing behind the scenes. Is he grinding away before and after games?
You're right it doesn't have to be, but it better be. If Jalen is starting next year I might not watch.
Green has had an off year while Alpi has played like a legitimate 3rd option on a good team/contender.... Green is going to have to make big time improvements in the next 2 years if he wants to get an extension here...
Why not both? Because one of them is a 21 year old who has improved each season and looks like he has superstar potential. The other is a 22 year old who cannot shoot, cannot defend, and has actually regressed over the course of 3 seasons. They are not equal and do not compliment each other. One is a player to build around while the other is an albatross. Jalen will be out of the league in a few years while Alpi will be in MVP discussions in coming years.
There's no dilemma, none at all. There's a possibility that Sengun is the guy you should build around. Maybe. There's absolutely ZERO possibility that Jalen is the guy you build around. None. Zip, Zilch, Nodda.
Sounds like someone being delusional enough to say there is a "Monta Ellis/Stephen Curry dilemma" on the Warriors in 2012. Or a "Nikola Jokic/Jusuf Nurkic dilemma" on the Nuggets in 2017. It's obvious which one is the one with MVP potential and which one is detrimental to the team. Stats, eye test, expert opinions - everyone sees it. Except for Stone, apparently, and some hopeless Jalen stans. Someone needs to teach Stone the concept of sunk cost. I mean, I get it, he is a lawyer, but that's really not a hard concept to understand.
