    Defense good, Shooting bad.

    Possible fixes,

SIGN - Malik Monk, Gary Trent Jr., Grayson Allen, or similar type player.
DRAFT - Reed Sheppard or similar.
DRAFT - Zvonimir Ivisic or big similar project.

TRADE/CUT - Tate, Landale, Bullock, Boban, and maybe Jalen if they decide to move on. I still think it's early, would love to see him off the bench but who knows.

Only matter of time until you will have to admit the same about Sengun.

If you were honest, you would have done so long ago. Be a man like @maj21.

I think everyone knows I like Alp. I was one of the first to compare him to Pau.
But he’s been playing so inconsistent lately. Whether it’s health, youth, burnout or a bad stretch he has to get past it. Get his mind more focused on what’s next instead of what happened.
Chet is literally the perfect pairing with this him and the rest of this team for that matter. But it is what it is.
I still have faith in Jalen but I’ve tempered my expectations with him.

Chet's pretty special. People keep thinking skinny bigs can't be bullies. It's been annoying seeing people say "too thin!" and "injury prone" to elite big men prospects for the past three drafts in a row. It's like they forgot about KG, Bosh, and Aldridge. The league has only gotten faster and more perimeter oriented since their heyday. For some reason people act like every team needs a center that can guard Shaq. The truth is that even someone as thin as Chet is enough to anchor a defense nowadays. And he's never shied away from physicality despite his frame. But I get it, Udoka wants to see more physicality from our guys. It's too bad ours just aren't built that way.

He also rocked a mean streak there, that is rare and uncommon.

Yes, he still falls down all the time but when he got back up on his feet again, he did great things.

Bosh and LaMarcus look like school boys next to Holmgren.....and I am not talking height.

There are always exceptions. Let's actually wait for him to play more than part of a season before crowning him as being an exception. After all, he already missed last season.

Sengun also had 5 turnovers which lead the team. He's way too careless with the ball

Chet and J-Dub outclass our entire young core aside from Sengun, and I’d take either of them over him right now as well

That sums up the season for the Rockets and its coaching staff. Teams know that all they have to do is swarm Alpi by packing the paint and let the others beat them with their inept outside shooting. In addition, Chet and other players around the league like Valanciunas know that the officials will not call any fouls if they rough up Alpi in the post, so they get away with pushing him around with constant fouling and get away with it. The fact that the Rockets are among the better defensive teams is a silver lining. It looks more and more like the solution to the Rockets issues is trading for or signing at least a couple of reliable outside shooters who can be average defenders. The current lineup does not have that sniper/s that other teams will need to account for and make them spread out their defenses more instead of packing the paint. Alpi needs to get stronger and learn the tricks of fighting back to discourage opponents from roughing him up without fouling.

I mean we dont know what Cam and Amen will look like next year. But its easier for them because they play with a superstar.

From a talent perspective it's pretty clear to me already that Chet, Wemby, and Mobley deserved to be drafted where they were, but I'm willing to wait several years before declaring their careers a success. Two of them are only rookies, after all.

What I won't do is call them exceptions. "Thin bigs are more injury prone than those with thick frames!" People just say that and expect it to be accepted as truth without providing any data. All the examples I mentioned before are exceptions. Tyson Chandler and Marcus Camby playing 19 and 17 seasons, respectively? Also exceptions. Injury prone bigs built like tanks like Oden, Bynum, Yao, Zion? Those are also exceptions. Any data that challenges my worldview is an exception. Anything that supports it is the norm.

It shouldn’t hurt anyone’s feelings to acknowledge that every GM in the league would choose any of SGA, Chet, or JDub over any individual Rocket. On current value or upside.

Every GM would also take Wemby over the entire Rockets roster + all future draft picks.

That’s just the facts of the situation. Those are the teams we’ll need to be better than.

If a player can’t get to that level, he won’t be part of our core long term. We may keep them around or extend them as necessary; but ultimately we’ll re-roll the dice via trade or draft until we have players that can be at or above that level.

We’re not building to be sorta good but not as good as OKC or Wemby. We want to be *better* than them.

These games will continue to be important litmus tests.

I wonder if it were the other way around, and the Rockets have SGA instead of Jalen Green. I would argue that Sengun would look far better than Chet and most big men in the league.

He would def have more wins and assists putting him in very elite company at just 21.
