    Stanek is not the answer.

He was a perfectly good regular season 6th best reliever on a team but there is a reason he is still available.

Game is on mlb.tv today. Glad I missed it. Glad it’s spring training. Still think this team needs bullpen help.

I didn't realize Joel Kuhnel was still in the organization, dude is really hanging on to that oversized, flat bill, hat tilted to the side look.

Wasn't Justin Durdin a lock to make the team after a couple of weeks last Spring?

    ...according to some of yall?

I don't recall calling either guy a lock at any point.

What part of my post suggested I considered him a "lock", I just think the other guys he's competing with are trash.

I don't get hitting Yordan 2nd. We want guys on base when he's hitting. Altuve + Bregman will get on base at a higher rate then the bottom of the order (and then Altuve). Espada is over thinking this in my opinion. If he wanted to slide Tucker in the two hole and move Breggy to 4th I wouldn't have a problem with this (with Yordan hitting 3rd). Hitting 2nd, over a season, isn't going to give him that many more AB compared to hitting 3rd, and it's definitely going to cut down on the # of men on-base when he hits which will lower his RBI opportunities. I hope he's just toying with this in Spring training.

    That's old school thinking.

Analytics shows that #2 is the single most important spot in the lineup. It has the balance of the most and best of opportunities.

#1 hits too often with nobody on base
#3 hits too often w/ nobody on and 2 outs.
    #4 often doesn't hit until 2nd inning.
    Etc.

Why did I just know you would push back on this. So it's "old school thinking"? They won a F'n WS two years ago with him hitting 3rd and who knows what they could've done last yr without Dusty having his head up his ass.

"Old school thinking"??? Thanks for the good laugh.

I was making a point about tiny sample sizes in ST

I don’t think so. I mean- if someone got hurt sure, I think he’d be first man up. But, I think they will want him to get regular AB’s in AAA as opposed to sporadic AB’s in the bigs as the 11th or 12th guy on the roster- especially if they have designs on him being an every day player next year.
    Thats just a guess.

    Disagree

Yordan is in scoring position any time he steps in the box. And no disrespect to Kyle, but nothing is worse than a game ending with your best hitter on deck

    I wish it was

    Altuve
    Yordan
    Tucker
    Chas
    Bregman

So many worry about back to back lefties, but both hit LHP great. There are still enough old school idiot managers that would go to the LHP late when Yordan came up instead of a better pitcher. Reason I like Chas behind them is the 3 batter rule

We were actually one of the first to start hitting our best hitter second. I loved it then cause it put so much stress on the SP right away

Having a great SH with speed made that a pretty easy choice, though.

Yet he hit 3rd for the first month or so he was in Houston.

    I like Chas.

But no way he should be hitting in the top 4 of this lineup.

Altuve, Alvarez, Tucker, and Bregman are head and shoulders better than anyone else, right now.

Abreu has the ability and history to join them if he can hold off father time for another year or two.

Diaz has the skills and could jump into that group as well.

Chad simply strikes out too much to be in the top 4. He was great when he connected, but only Maldonado struck out more than him last year.

If he is 6th or 7th best hitter on a team, that team is championship level.

If he is 4th or 5th best hitter on a team, that team is average.
