Coogs in position to win, but still close enough to lose. A win tonight would help offset what appears to have been a blowout @ Lawrence.
Great win. Revenge games are a KS specialty Onto LJ cryers return to Baylor Saturday @MadMax but they’ve got a tough one also at byu tomorrow night before sat. they’re going to need the full week to heal from all these bumps and bruises from this game lol
Extremely glad Shead was able to have a huge game on a big night like this infront of 20+ nba personnel Iowa st is damn good. Whoever they get matched up with against in March is gonna hate it
Iowa State impressed the heck out of me. They can ball; excellent shooters and strong defenders. They are going to terrorize teams in the tournament. I wish the Coogs had another one or two "shooters." ISU shot over 50% from three while UH shot in the 20's. AND, they out rebounded us too! Closer than the score indicates.
very close. i felt we got a good whistle in the first half but refs did their best to even it out in the 2nd. all in all, we got the better calls imo. thats a 50/50 game on a neutral court. isu is an impressive team. shoutouts to their coach as well lol dude works out for sure but needs to get bigger shirts
Coach Sampson said on a recent podcast that Shead came into the program as immature, but now he's essentially an assistant coach. The ESPN crew (probably referencing this) said something similar. I don't know if there is higher praise you can give a college player.
Shead makes buckets and the right plays when we really need them, like when answering their 7-0 run in the second half, So clutch. He’s not necessarily the best shooter but he’ll make the step back 3, pull up jumper, floater, or penetrate and dish at the pivotal part of the game. Not too mention his stellar defense. Shades of Dennis Johnson in terms of the clutch gene, bulldog mentality, ultimate winner. His trajectory after making a mistake at the end of the Wisconsin game in Vegas a couple of years ago has been amazing. I hold my breath when we take him out of the game. But I am concerned about his heavy minutes (38 last night) and hope he doesn’t wear down come tournament time.
Last night was a Thunderdome rockfight. Intensely entertaining. ISU might be the closest team in America that is like the Coogs. They are going to be a tough tournament out. TJ Whataburger is a fantastic coach. He and the Sampsons will have some great battles for years to come.
