    If California has a $50 minimum wage, there would be a mass exodus of business owners to Florida, Texas, and Nevada
    @basso

    Oh wait.. that's already happening

    I hope my salary also goes up 150% to compensate for the massive inflation that would ensue.

    Whatever the hypothetical number is, if a system turns to hyper inflation because humans dedicating 40+ hours of their lives per week to the profit motives of other humans can finally afford rent, utilities, medical, groceries, transportation, emergency funds without debt then the system needs to end.

    Ignore the 50 dollars thing. Just understand the basic premise of your argument and how absurd it is.

    The minimum wage should be whatever wage allows those expenses without getting into debt working full time. That's what the minimum wage should be.

    the only thing that tin foil knows about taxes is that he doesn't understand it !

    Barbara lee has often pointed to this trending timeline of the top marginal income tax rate as justification for the proposed increase in minimum wage.

    [IMG]
    • The top tax rate was 91% when Ike was POTUS
    • since then, it has been drastically declining
      • to 70% during the Nixon presidency
      • to 50% during the Reagan presidency
    • Trump's tax cut in 2017 for the top1% reduced it to 37%
      • to finance this tax cut, recall that Trump put a cap on SALT and mortgage deductions, the most popular tax deductions for the US middle class

    who shoulders for this drastic cut in tax revenue, the US middle class

    ur too ill-informed to know that Congress woman Barbara Lee was the only one in Congress
    voted against a broad authorization used to carry out the war in Afghanistan, W's needless war.

    you have voted Republican all you life, yet your tax rate did not decline 26% (since the Reagan presidency) like to top marginal tax rate

    it'd not be far-fetched to say that

    because of the caps on SALT / mortgage tax deduction, your effective tax rate, like most middle class tax payers living in Calif, may have been increased,

    There’s a lot of failed economics majors or these people didn’t take economics cause they struggled at art history
    @Os Trigonum
    @AroundTheWorld

    I’ll make it simple for them. If the Rockets went over the salary cap, who will pay for that?
    The answer is you.
    Tickets, beer, hot dogs, parking . Yeah it’s going to be expensive

    No, the minimum wage is always zero. There should be no legal minimum wage and the lowest paid wage should be whatever amount an employer and employee agree on. If the value you provide is less than the value of the work required to provide you with housing, utilities, medical care, food, a car, and extra money, then you should not be paid enough to get all of those things, just for existing and doing "something" for 40 hours per week. If you don't get paid enough to do the work required of you, then quit and find someone who will pay you more. If no one will pay you more, you are overvaluing yourself. I don't need anyone to wash my car. If someone spent 40 hours per week washing my car, it would provide some small amount of value to me, but I wouldn't pay them $2000 per week.
    You have no idea who I do or don't care about. I certainly care enough about myself to not want to live in a state with a $50/hr minimum wage though.
    I have not voted for a Republican for President in 20 years. You have no idea what you are talking about, as per usual.

    He is an example of WOKENESS

    I had a friend in San Francisco get harassed by BLM for just walking down the street. They told her she was responsible for injustice for Black Americans for hundreds of years.

    Then she said with her native accent, "I'm from Russia."

    That @Andre0087 went speechless

    WOKE people can't see past Republican/Democrat or White/Black
    Their brains don't work that way
