They usually do that ......even knowingly that they made a mistake.....not only talking about this particular foul....

Then they make a statement that they were wrong after the game.

It was a foul for 98% of the game but not a foul on a buzzer-beater to win the game. Rockets fans are correct that there was contact and by the rulebook, that should be called a foul. Knicks fans are correct that the game is not usually called the way the refs just did.

And that kind of inconsistency is what I hate the most about the NBA. Refs are allowed to make too many subjective judgment calls based on external factors, from calling things differently at different points in the game, to preferential treatment for star players, to sh*t like waiting to call the foul until they see whether the ball goes in.

No other sport operates this way to the degree that NBA basketball does. In baseball, a strike is a strike, a ball is a ball. A man is out if he got tagged before he reached the plate. The umpires f*ck up all the time, some worse than others, but they don't habitually allow subjective judgments about players or situations to affect their calls.

This is one of the main reasons I've taken multiple hiatuses from watching basketball, after awhile I just get too fed up with the way the sport is structured and officiated.

It was a foul, Brunson shouldn’t have put them in that position.

I need an "IDGAF It's A Win" option in the poll.

If it was a mistake, why the hell didn't they fix it when it went to review?

WTF was Brunson thinking? Holiday was shooting an off balance 30’ fadeaway. You can’t make contact; you just can’t.

I give Holiday credit for not kicking his leg to draw contact and instead trying to make the shot.

I agree with @OremLK. The NBA having different rules for superstars, playoffs and last second shots is maddening … and can make the game unwatchable.

Dreams of Karl Malone giving Drexler a bear hug are dancing in my mind … along with Matt Maloney’s nose flagrantly fouling Stockton’s elbow.

Refs make mistakes all the time, every game. That’s the way the cookie crumbles.

That was a clear cut 100% foul, if Holiday was Lebron, Curry, Luka, Durant etc. But because it was a ROCKET RESERVE then it wasn't really a foul and it shouldn't of been called???

Holiday jumped 50ft into the air and very easily could've been injured because he was being undercut! You simply can't say "oh the contact was minimal and it wouldn't of interfered with the shot". If Holiday would've broken his ankle because of the undercut... would the minimal contact explanation still be valid????

Brunson would've probably been called for a flagrant if it was one of the aforementioned players...

Brunson was out of control jumping 5 feet and making contact with Holiday's body on a fadaway. Holiday was going back wards and Brunson still hit him, it's obviously just a dumb foul.

The referee said before the review exactly what they were looking for. The review revealed that what they were looking for did occur. It was a foul and they were completely transparent about it. We deserved the win.
