There is stuff on Bauer going back ten years with multiple people. I imagine MLB teams have their own information to draw on, too.
I was also encouraged he wanted to see Alvarez in LF more to open up the DH spot. He apparently does not share the fragility concerns of many. It's far easier to find a DH than even a LFer to upgrade what is already a very good line up. JD on a one year contract? Leave it open for resting players you want to keep in the line up? I'm hoping of the best of the best of the manager's he's worked with as a coach. I don't think Espada will be too patient to try adjustments. Routine has it's place, but can become complacency. He sounds like he's aware of this. https://www.mlb.com/video/espada-on-expectations-for-2024
Bauer may well be the most overrated pitcher of the last decade. Dude won 1 Mickey Mouse Cy Young when he discover stickum and has basically been garbage every other year.
No to Bauer But there's a reason charges weren't brought. He's been convicted in the court of public opinion. On another note, I would sign Martinez and DH 100 games and hopefully he could play some LF at MMP for 25-30 games. Also catch Diaz 100-110 games and let him play 1st or DH another 25-30 games while Caratini catches.
Luhnow wasn't worried about this, he would do whatever it took to win, because he knew winning is what brings the fans to MMP. Of course that win at all costs attitude got him banned from MLB.
Marshall also mentioned JD Martinez but can he play the OF still? I think he only started in LF once last year and played 3 games in total (12 innings) but was that because he's basically incapable or Dodgers were set in the OF? Would it be better to go after Soler? Soler might take more than 1 year to sign vs Martinez on a 1 year deal. I believe Soler can play OF but he's not the greatest defensive player (I think). I wonder how big of a difference is between Martinez and Soler when it comes to playing the OF.
If Martinez can play any LF at all it would be at MMP/Fenway, where there's not as much ground to cover.
I think it needs to be a balance Yordan wants to play in the field and they should try to accommodate that some Altuve and Abreu could both benefit from DH time Vs RHP an OF of Yordan-Chas-Tucker is without question the best they have. Yordan is too valuable and susceptible to injury to over expose to grass.
Abreu at DH should ONLY be considered if he is significantly better this year Hopefully playing below average hitters at DH is a thing of the past
I start with that assumption. I can't believe he suddenly forgot how to hit after 11 seasons in Chicago. I don't expect an MVP, but a 125 OPS+ shouldn't be out of reach.
I would hope more left field for Yordan would be due to the Astros signing one more bat that would need the DH more than a young Yordan.
Why? He will be in the lineup regardless so why would it be worse for him to DH than play 1st? At least DH takes some wear and tear off the legs and back and will help keep the fatigue of 162 games away.
