This oompa loompa should be the first player in the crosshairs. He's stealing money at this point. F all that "veteran leadership" BS he should lead by example and that might start with being able to connect on a lob pass every once in a while and making critical shots.

    Stone wanted Harden. Juuuuuuuuuuuuust sayin'

Who do you propose should have been running point? Who should the Rockets have spent that $ on instead? Serious question. It's about opportunity, not wish lists.

300+mm for James Harden? The guy that goes scoreless in the 4th quarter of decision games cause he's hung over from the strip club the night before? Juuuuuuuust sayin.

I have no doubt the Rockets would have a better record right now with JH over FVV. Zero. But at what cost? This team wasn't winning a championship this year (or next). The reasonable plan is 2-3 years down the line.

Besides, Ime literally would have murdered Harden by now. He'd actually be dead. THAT is a waste of money. lol.

Dennis Shroeder would have been a better "veteran leadership" player that could actually make all the passes you expect a point guard to make for a fraction of the cost. Coby White should have been the poach with the benefit of hindsight.

Im pretty sure Fred is pissing off Udoka plenty. Saving grace is that Fred doesnt turn the ball over, but you arent giving the rock to Fred and expecting him to go make something happen outside of PNR or wide open shooting.

I agree with your timeline for this team.

The Rockets brought in FVV to stabilize the ship while letting the young players develop (something Harden wouldn't do), he's done exactly that. Whether he makes 10 million or 60 million, it has no impact on the actual roster.

We're gonna have one of the best improvements in the league and our long term cap space is clear for when we hopefully are ready to take the next step. I can't believe there are still people b****ing about this.

    Not sure what people expected.

No real perfect player wanted to sign with the Rockets after being horrendous for years and having young players that did not develop.

FVV has given them exactly what they expected - Brooks has even been better than expected.

This team wasn't going to win a lot of games this season - because they have so many players 22 years old and younger.

Schroeder is an interesting comp. Comparing their stats, FVV is superior in literally every single measurable category. That said, the differences between the two often aren't much different. But it is consistent, in literally every category. There is nothing that Schroeder does better than FVV, except his contract. That said, FVV is a notably better defender and better asst/turnover ratio.

So no, the Rockets would be worse off with Schoder at the helm.

FVV has zero salary cap impact on this current team. He's serving his purpose.

These two players are practically identical. Any differences are negligible at best. Schroeder plays his role perfectly. He doesnt chuck or over complicate things. He has a better court awareness and overall vision to make passes outside of PNR concepts and can actually get to the cup and finish.

Freds contract will come in useful when Udoka finds his star.

If we had dennis instead of fvv we would be trash and everyone would be going insane. He’s an ok backup but absolutely not a starting level player

Maybe. Your opinions of Schoder are just that and aren't backed up by stats. But whatevs. No biggy. Had we have signed Schoder, I'm sure many around here would have been complaining about some other deficiency. We could have signed Harden and he likely would have been throwing tantrums by now.

FVV is an adequate filler with championship pedigree, has a good Ass/TO ratio, and can play some defense. In my book, he's a near perfect fit ...for now.

With luck, Amen makes him expendable before the trade deadline next season.

Schroeder since the Siakam trade: 11ppg/2.9rpg/4.6apg on 38/25/88 shooting split. Once he's actually tasked with being one of the leaders of a team, he clearly no longer look nearly as good as you make him out to be.

It sucked that no players of note were available. I just don’t see FVV as a difference maker and think opposite to James’ impact on this team. To each his own.

Agree with Amen. Kid has some BOUNCE if he can become a serviceable shooter he could be special.

Even better no ego or bloated contract to try and live up to - Schroeder is never supposed to be thought of as a 1st or 2nd option. It’s not a matter of making him look good when I know what he is.

FVV is a pudgy one dimensional passer with a mediocre shot and some “want to” on defense. A placeholder and we all understand that, but when I hear Udoka is stargazing I can’t help but get a kick out of it knowing there were options.

Talk to some Raptor fans and they’d tell you FVV gets in the way of development. Would you agree with that?
